Power Forwards Ryan Anderson and PJ Tucker respectively at almost 38%. Who could've predicted that?! Stretch 4 you looking for? We have two
I'm surprised Anderson is shooting that well, honestly. I remember complaining a lot about our Powerforward tandem in December. It's a good sign that they've come around.
his 3pt shooting percentage was always solid this year...even when in the slump his average on the year was good...the only problem was he was paid 20 million and there were no joe johnson around to take the blame and wrath of the cf
Even aside from all of that, I feel that he doesn't take enough shots or look for his shot enough if he does shoot that well. He should be taking some of Johnson's 3s and some of Harden's pull-up 3's.
Tucker and Anderson have the highest overall percentages, but that doesn't really paint the entire picture because a huge percentage (54.2% and 46.9% respectively) come from wide open attempts. Most of our other shooters are regularly expected to create their own (tougher) shots. If you sort our players three point percentages on "wide open" attempts only, you get: 44.1 - Green 43.7 - Gordon 43.3 - Mbah a Moute 42.9 - Ariza 41.1 - Anderson 40.8 - Harden 37.1 - Tucker 34.6 - Paul (down from 47.1 on nearly identical frequency last season, which is interesting) I'm not disagreeing with the main message here, just adding some perspective.
Thanks, definitely interesting!! Did not expect Green to lead, but this shows he’s not expendable. So this also means that all other shots are contested i.e. Tucker and CP3 shoot better when it’s not wide open even if slightly?
Another perspective (not arguing...but I wrote these down for a discussion with ballscientist1; but she didn’t want anything to do with it) Might as well post them here: per stats/nba.com. (Wrote then before yesterday’s game) Player................3P%.....(3PA)...............”Catch-n-Shoot 3-pt %..........CnS 3-pt attempts/ gm Ryno..................38.6%....5.1...........................39.3%.....................................4.7........ CP3...................37.9%....6.5...........................40.0%.....................................1.2........ Ariza..................37.6%....6.9...........................40.3%.....................................5.7........ Tucker................37.1%...3.7............................37.4%.....................................3.6........ GG.....................36.6%....7.1............................36.6%.....................................5.0........ Harden...............36.6%...10.1..........................32.3%....................................2.3........ EGordon............36.1%....8.8...........................38.5%.....................................5.8........ Luc MaM...........35.9%.....2.9...........................35.2%.....................................2.8........ Ryan Anderson is 42.1% in his last 15 games Ryan Anderson (17/18): Road: 42.2% Home: 34.4% I like Ryan for road games Harden doesn’t need to be good at catch and shoot (unless the time is less than 3 seconds on the clock). Otherwise Harden should go step back three where he is killing it.
Why ? Pj already won the starting spot ... so of course ryno will play less . But ryno will (if healthy) still get time over JJ and Nene and maybe green .
PJ was in a slump but going off no statistics it feels like PJ has been hitting more of his 3's of late.
Truck tucker was a good 3 pt shooter with the suns as well but to his credit he obviously has taken it to a new level this season
