Was it a hit or an error? The catcher could have just stepped a foot forward and caught it. Not sure who that is on.

Traditionally, when a ball lands untouched, it's ruled a hit. Like when it gets lost in the sun or 2 guys just stare at each other as it lands between them.

They may change it later, but initial ruling was hit + RBI

Shades of the White Sox from a few years ago. "You have got to be bleeping me."

Bregs was given an rbi so it was a hit.

They actually pay the catcher to make that play.

I said he’s going to be our 2nd best pitcher this year. Dude is a stud. He is a true ace.

We're stupid deep at SP. Good god Luhnow. Verlander, Cole, LMJ, Kuechel, Morton, Peacock, McHugh, Whitley, Martes.

Opposing clubs are going to give us their best shot this year. I think this type of series is going to become common place. We'll still blow out some teams, but everyone we face will have have some extra juice/ extra umph for the champs. We've seen it with San Diego. Teams are going to give us their best shot.

Good thing our pitching is as strong as it is. Repeating is tough, but doable. Now if LAA could cool off...

They need to change their algorithm. Every single ball hit in fair territory has a chance at being a hit (as proven tonight)

My guess is they're rounding. The probability of that ball falling for a hit can't be zero, as you point out, but it might be something like 0.2%. My guess is the hit probability goes up in outdoor day games (sun glare).

The pirates at 6-2 are enough for me to realize it’s way way way too early to be watching the standings.

Pirates have a decent squad. They have some good, young players. I think they'll be similar to 2017 MIN. They'll hover around .500 this year and will be in the playoff hunt, but eventually miss out. The real outliers are NYM and ATL at 6-1, and 5-2, respectively.

The Astros will bring a mean 2.22 team ERA into tomorrow's game. Only Boston and NYM have pitched to better results.

In terms of the AL Pitcher of the Month, right now I can only see Manaea (OAK) and Severino (NYY) being in competition with Cole. Sale and Price from BOS are not far behind. In the NL it's looking like Wood (LAD), Martinez (STL), and Corbin (ARI).
