LeBron: "I don't have a quit bone in me......other than the 6 weeks I went into a coma earlier this year."

All that's left now is for the BSPN talking heads to set their conditions for LBJ to win/co-win the MVP... something akin to last year when it was 'if Chucky McChucker averages a triple-dub, then he should get the MVP'.

No, it's not. Last year, the Rockets finished 8 games ahead of the Thunder. A sizable margin in the standings, but not an overwhelming number. And the Warriors and Spurs both had significantly better records(67-15, 61-21) than the Rockets. And there were also two factors that helped deliver the award for Westbrook. First was that Durant fled for Golden State during the offseason. And second was that Russ averaged a triple double for the season.

This year, Harden's team will finish no fewer than 12 games ahead of the Cavs. He leads the league in scoring and is third in assists despite sharing ballhandling duties with CP3 who himself is sixth in the league. His fellow superstar has missed 23 games. And he's put up historic numbers including a 60-point triple double.

I'm not saying LeBron hasn't had a statistically dominant year(at least offensively). And any other year, you could make a strong case for him deserving the MVP. But if he wins it this season over Harden, then it's abundantly clear the people who vote for this award simply don't want to give it to Harden and will look for any excuse they can come up with to deny it to him.

Lebron has a cupcake schedule for his last 3 games (honestly, his last 10 games have mostly been against cupcake opponents). Expecting him to triple double it up on the Knicks. Expect Shannon Sharpe to be like: "Lebron deserves MVP Skip! He got a triple double--back to back!"

The Cavs record between Dec 19 through Feb 6 was 7-14. That is a quarter of the season's worth of games. You can't just conveniently forget that stretch if you are championing LeBron for this year's regular season MVP award.

That said, recency bias, yadda yadda.

Seems pretty apparent that many are very much conveniently going to forget that stretch.

It’s over. Lebron will get some stan votes but Harden will win in a landslide.

    Let’s worry about the playoffs.

Since he was fired from his gm role, he was just trying to get his team to make some moves which in hindsight worked out pretty well.

Not over till the media shuts up about Lebron deserving the MVP over Harden. If it was over, they wouldn't be trying to re-write this season and his lazy play 1/2 the season.

If there was 1-2 months left in the season, I would agree with you. But there's less than a week left, and the overwhelming majority of people acknowledge that it's Harden's year. That doesn't make it any less annoying when you have clowns like Russillo tweeting ridiculous hot takes, but I think time is on our side this year.
