he has improved his defence but not to All defensive standards. he is top 20 in defensive win shares and his real plus minus on defence has improved to -0.26 from last years number at -1.57
His DRPM is close to 0. He is pretty good in the post, but not so much when guarding people on perimeter. CP3 deserves to be on all defensive team over harden.
Harden has Agreed. Harden has improved quite a bit. He has made some great defensive plays when needed in crunch time this season, but he still has lapses far often than he should and for that reason I have to believe that there are more deserving players for All NBA honors whether first or second team.
I don't know...some people actually think "Steals" = good defense, not understanding a lot of steals also mean a lot of gambling and poor lazy defense. Sort of like Josh Smith average 3.5 blocks and 2 steals ...that mean he gambles a lot and play bad defense. Stats do lie, but some poeple don't know that because they watch stats, not the game
The narrative has been set. Harden will struggle to make it into any all NBA defensive teams not just this year but maybe through his career It is what it is ANyway give me multiple MVP's and rings over all NBA team defense Didn't take Tony Allen anywhere
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...nse-defensive-player-year-best-picks-position First Team Dejounte Murray, San Antonio Spurs Andre Roberson, Oklahoma City Thunder Robert Covington, Philadelphia 76ers Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz *DPOY Second Team Jrue Holiday, New Orleans Pelicans Victor Oladipo, Indiana Pacers Jimmy Butler, Minnesota Timberwolves Al Horford, Boston Celtics Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers Point Guard Honorable Mention: Kris Dunn, Chicago Bulls; Chris Paul, Houston Rockets; Ricky Rubio, Utah Jazz Paul hasn't been quite as good defensively as last season, when he was my first team pick, but his ability to defend bigger players has been crucial in Houston's switch-heavy defense. Shooting Guard Honorable Mention: Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics; Danny Green, San Antonio Spurs; Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors Small Forward Honorable Mention: Paul George, Oklahoma City Thunder; Luc Mbah a Moute, Houston Rockets; Royce O'Neale, Utah Jazz Mbah a Moute's comfort defending on the perimeter and in the post made him perfect for Houston's defense, which has been at its best with him on the court. Power Forward Honorable Mention: Al-Farouq Aminu, Portland Trail Blazers; Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks; Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans Power forward has the deepest pool of All-Defense contenders, so apologies to Paul Millsap, Kristaps Porzingis, Ben Simmons, P.J. Tucker and Justise Winslow. Center Honorable Mention: Aron Baynes, Boston Celtics; Jusuf Nurkic, Portland Trail Blazers; David West, Golden State Warriors
Fun Fact: LeBron James is currently 195th out of 204 players in Defensive Win Shares Per 48* *minimum 60 games played @ 20 mpg That said, Harden doesn't deserve All Defensive Team. He's been better...but no.
Great. P.J. Tucker is affecting entire games with his defensive play, yet he gets tossed in with this bunch. And David West over Capela? Seriously?
