I dont have an evaluation sheet, if thats what youre asking but I did allude to the fact that he was evloving as bobrek said, for the simple fact of him not bringing in Giles. Theres not one thing I can pinpoint about being a good manager but its all reactionary to what he does in game. Ive always given Hinch credit for what he does in the fieldhouse and how he handles the players. Hes phenomenal at that and have always said hed be a great life coach, but have had my fair share with how hes handled the pen and how long he left his starters in. Ive always admired LaRussa on how he handled his pitching staff and not caring what their feelings/egos would play into if he pulled them or not. Also, like most managers, Im probably not giving enough credit and some are giving too much credit. I just dont see how him riding the hot hand in his starters to close out games in the WS, when he had no other options gets him any plus value.
Yes. A few people were talking about trading Reddick, and calling him the 4th-6th best OF on the team less than 48 hours ago. Thus the joke. People overreacting to 8 ABs (plus the postseason). Same as those guys that were concerned about McCann going almost the entire Spring without a hit.
First and foremost, lets not mistake me answering a question posed to me as me complaining about the game today. i did no such thing. Before everybody gets all high and mighty with that shitty passive aggressiveness, follow the posts back to where it stemmed.
Box Score says Keuchel pitched decent and his ERA is now respectable. He's still needs doing better, but it's improvement from his first start. Peacock and McHugh would both make every team's rotation - except the champs. Then... the offense. No Los, and still did enough. So blessed having this team. Rockets following suit.
At this point people are never gonna give Hinch his due for at least being a solid big league manager. If fresh off a World Series in which he pushed the right buttons he isn't getting credit, he never will.
Are you suggesting that the complete meltdown of the bullpen arms during the WS made Hinch's job EASIER?
Hinch is a top 5 manager in the league. There should be no questioning that. Results speak for themselves. He had the youngins over achieve in 15' and brought home the title in 17. Team has come out looking like they want to repeat this year as well.
You have a very narrow outlook on Hinch's job and are discrediting his managing and approach in the WS. What about sticking with Springer in leadoff after his golden sombrero in Game 1 (after George did poorly in the NY series too)? Was that an automatic button?
How about you go back and read what I posted earlier on how he handles his players in the clubhouse. You wanna talk narow, how about youre reading scope?
Realistically, Kyle Tucker would do well to hit for a league-average OPS of around .750 during his first few months in the majors. He still needs to prove himself at AAA, and once he comes up to MMP opposing pitchers are going to pitch to his weaknesses. Spring training was fun and all but it was quite different from the real thing. I think the chances are good that K Tuck will have a more successful career than Reddick has had, but that is hardly assured. For now, Reddick is the better of the two men to have on the major league active roster.
That's not just a clubhouse move. That's a lineup and batting order move, i.e. an on the field, managerial move. Yes, your outlook is narrow.
We're living in the future. Everybody else zigs, we zag. They copy our zag so we zig. Then when they think we're gonna zag, we zig again just to f**k with em.
In the sense that it would disrupt Georges psyche and disrupt the lineup as well, its all inclusive with clubhouse. Springer has batted first all year, why would he change that? Your thinking on the matter might also be narrow. If you want to talk about lineup, how about Reddick in the WS. What did he do with that, how many hits did Reddick have in that series? Now it seems like im nitpicking but Im just giving an example to your logic. Luhnow is the real MVP.
