Just don’t think he has any wow factor to him. Getting to that age. I would be saying this if he was 10-0 right now.

Verlander goes home to Kate Upton. He doesn’t get rattled when he gives up runs. :)

He’s never had any wow factor... he’s a slightly lesser version of a left-handed Greg Maddux, who also never had any wow factor.

If he’s healthy, he’s one of the most unique and effective pitchers in baseball... but yes, with the age/miles, health is the biggest question mark (as even the slightest hiccup will have his stuff diminish to very hittable).

I have a weird feeling the bottom of the lineup is going to carry the team today

Older Greg Maddux didn't either. Or any number of great pitchers who didn't throw 97. He'll be fine as long as he has his usual control.

I think he will end up being our #4 or 5 starter this year. But that says as much about our rotation as it does him.

McCann has been on such a hitting streak, I'd have preferred to seem him out there, at least as DH if not C. Also, Bundy tends to struggle more against lefties than righties. So to start the game at least it would be better to have McCann catching.

Not sure if you want to claim "great minds think alike", but they do.

I would also like to take this moment to reiterate how much I love day baseball in the middle of the week.

Good Job Jake! All you had to do is make contact, and you did.

Davis is sure as hell not taking advantage of his opportunity, at the plate at least.

Let's bring up AJ Reed. I feel like he could break out-- seems like these guys get a bit overwhelmed in their first trip up to the big leagues- Reed had a nice spring too and has been to the big show before. Maybe his head is screwed on straight now.
