so easy enough, I’m looking for helpful opinions on crv. Of course I will test drive when possible but in my internet based search it seems to be the one that I always circle back to, checks the most boxes, etc. Other favs: Toyota Camry, Subaru Impreza, Kia Sportage
I think Hondas are ugly. IMHO. Check out the new RAV4. Not sure when it will be released and what your timeline is. https://www.toyota.com/upcoming-vehicles/rav4/
Yeah, idc about looks on this one. Gonna be the family car, so functionality reigns. RAV4 are nice, if it were t for the Honda CR-V I’d probably lean that way but the ratings and online info lean crv.
I was between the Subaru Forester or Honda CR-V. I didn't like the CR-V's minivan appearance, plus its visibility was worse. I went with the Forester.
Got the wife a Mazda cx5 a month or so ago. She's been happy with it. Much better looking than most of those imo
I have a new one. My only complaints are the small gas tank (11 gallons) and the cheap feel of the floor mats compared to the car I traded in. I like that it practically drives itself on the highway.
I think with that class of vehicle you can't go wrong with one of the following: Rav4/CRV/CX5/Forester. Just depends on what options and what you think looks best to you. Wife has a CR-V, it does the daily driver job well and is big enough to carry most things we would need to haul. If I had to drive one myself, I'd probably go with a Forester.
Friend of mine has the CRV. They like it. With have a subaru outback. We like it as well. We prefer the outback VS the forester, but you kind of have to like the wagon look. It is also a tad more expensive. Don't think you can go wrong with the CRV though. I actually like the looks of the newest version.
Very interested in hearing more about that choice if you don't mind. I do like the Foresters and subarus in general. Haven't been to drive one yet but visibility concerns are exactly the kind of thing I want to hear about. We're both normal sized people if that matters. You're pretty much on the dime with those vehicles, looking into all. I just can't get over the CRV having slightly more room, slightly better gas mileage, slightly better crash ratings. If it were looks probably the mazda but those things just don't last. Hondas are cockroaches lol
Nah, I've read that people are buying new cars less and less. I'm actually considering this too, going with a leased model on resale. Someone drove the new off of it, so what? You can get a sweet CRV from 14-16 with all the bells and whistles under 40k miles for like 10 grand less than a new one.
I can't speak for the new CRV, wife's CRV is a 2014 model, but the 2018 forester felt a lot roomier for me(5'10) and had good visibility from the drivers seat. That might of been due to the giant sunroof the Forester had when I test drove it but I like it the most out of the 4 I mentioned. For visibility out of the Forester, the little triangle of whatever black material most cars have between the A pillar/side mirrors is see through for the forester. Found an example. Spoiler I know I would probably never get the full use of the AWD capability but I like the fact thats standard for all subies.
Here's a comparison that I used when I was comparing them. Keep in mind it is from a Subaru dealer so they may be slightly biased. https://www.planetsubaru.com/subaru-forester-vs-honda-crv.htm The rear windows are larger on the Forester, including the most rear side windows. On the CRV, I felt that triangular rear side window was almost pointless. I also liked that Subaru has standard AWD. Not a huge use in Texas city life, but for the same price point, why not? The interiors of the CRV will be more polished. Subarus don't have that premium interior trim feeling to them, it's a little more bland. Honda does a better job of convenience options (radio, memory seats, etc.) whereas Subaru is more utilitarian. Like marky said, the RAV4, CX5, CRV, and Forester are leaders in the small CUV class, hard to go wrong with either in them. I test drove a Forester and CRV, also ridden in a friend's RAV4. It just comes down to minor differences in options and price.
I drive about 10-15 miles daily, mostly city, and refuel a little less than twice a month. I get 22 city and about 30 highway. It's also very comfortable to drive around.
