Yesterday B/R posted some good stats from a reliable source. I wish I wrote them down. Something about Raptors lineup being a plus 9, but with VanVleet instead of OG they are a plus 25. Houston is a 135 ORtg with Tucker playing center at something like 300 possessions. Plus 35 net. So, I can respect your caution. Let's hope it carries over Into the playoffs.
MDA said PJ's the best defender he's seen. He even mentioned him guarding every position. Is he overrating PJ too? On a side note, the board definitely overrated DMo
I'm not aware of PJ Tucker kicking innocent people in the balls. PJ Tucker is PJ Tucker and I'm glad he's not a Draymond Green. I don't like ball kickers.
PJ's presence in the starting lineup is paying dividends. He obviously brings all of the intangibles, but him being able to hit that corner 3pt shot at a good clip is really opening up the floor. He can be a plus player at both ends. Also this
Mike D'Antoni likes sticking up for his players to give them a boost, but he is lying about Tucker being the best defensive player he has seen. You would have to be naive to believe that he really thinks that
You really think he'd say something like that & not mean it? That would be highly irresponsible. You'd be naive to think MDA would lie just to be doing it
Here are all the elite defensive players that have played under D'Antoni: Shawn Marion old Ron Artest injured Dwight Howard yeah thats pretty much it, to say that Tucker is better than Marion is highly questionable, but he's never had defenders of this quantity before in his career.
U do know coaches have ex players they still have relationships with, right? MDA wouldn't just say PJ's the best defender he's coached, in the face of guys like Raja Bell, if he didn't really mean it. I don't think a coach who's been in this league as long as MDA would just say something just to be saying it
