LOL, scolded by Tina! Classic! So did she get one out of her purse and give it to you or just let you walk off with your head down, shamed like a puppy who just wet the carpet.
Why would you come on this post just to be demeaning towards women's sports? It's funny how some people say that, yet root and cheer for kids playing basketball, football, or high school, and college and call it real sports. Just because it is women doesn't make it any less of a sport than what some consider sports by kids from their local school or neighborhood, or favorite college.
The WNBA was my offseason basketball fix in the mid 90s. Cynthia Cooper was so far and away better than everyone else, it was ridiculous. I assume she made it into the Hall, right?
I got a pen from a register. I will give Tina Thompson credit for waiting while I shuffled around trying to find a pen. I felt pretty dumb looking for a pen in the middle of the store. By the time I found the pen, I didn't want the autograph anymore. When she said she didn't have a pen, it really caught me off guard. I really thought people just carried pens. Back then, writing checks was a thing. People reached for a checkbook before they reached for a bank card or credit card. I know that WNBA salary wasn't popping enough for her to be slinging free 20s. Tina Thompson was writing checks that required ink. I'm positive Tina had a checkbook.
You best believe, if the Comets were still around today, there would be a game thread for their games. Show some respect.
I guess we can hire her as a coach in training under D'Antoni if she follow's the philosophy as being an offensive minded coach. If she's well respected in his HOF speech, she deserved a spot just like how Spur's coach Becky Hammon got a spot. (ironically we are playing Spurs later) -- Just like how this guy in the fan stand got a gig for Rockets, end up training and working on Capela's game and pretty sure in behind-the-scenes on Zhou Qi with his cheesing flare we may see one day
I said WNBA not womens sports. Womens tennis, beach volleyball and mud wrestling are bearable for 10 min.
Regardless of whether you like to watch women's basketball, to question it as a sport is a slap in the face to those who play. There are lots of sports I don't enjoy watching, but that doesn't mean I don't respect the great players in those sports. Basketball is a sport, regardless of whether men or women play it, college, high school, or younger kids play it.
What’s crazy is that no one ever brings up those Comets teams when they bring up the great squad.... but they were an amazing group....
I don't understand why women got some much disrespect in sports. She is a great basketball legend period.
Yes, Tina was a great basketball legend. We had the best players in the world representing Houston, and what they did in Houston by winning 4 straight championships was amazing! That's what you call a dynasty, and few teams can say they have done that. I for one, cheered and supported our local team, and loved every minute of those championship games.
