if hawaii is deemed physically healthy by all doctors, couldn't the league or the team fine him? or at least prorate his salary away by each game he misses?
Yes. Failure to show up (and play) if requested by the team is bad. We've seen players refuse to report back into a game, and get fined, right? This clause is in every Uniform Player Contract, and I'm going to guess it the catch-all clause: (c) For any violation of Team rules, any breach of any provision of this Contract, or for any conduct impairing the faithful and thorough discharge of the duties incumbent upon the Player, the Team may reasonably impose fines and/or suspensions on the Player in accordance with the terms of the CBA.
how come the spurs haven't fined him yet? are they still hoping that the ruined relationship could be better?
If it is indeed LMA, do you really think the spurs would pick LMA over Kawhi? LMA is having a good year but no way they pick him over Kawhi
What's the point of fining him at this point. They'd just destroy what little chance they have left to re-sign him. Maybe that's what Kawhi is hoping for, so that he has an excuse to go elsewhere after what he said about wanting to retire as a Spur.
it seems like the spurs already know hawaii wouldn't want to stay. my guess is the higher ups won't let the team fine him so future 35 year old ex superstars will still want to join the team.
I don't know if Kawhi will be in SAS long term, but we're gonna know this summer. 1) Either Kawhi signs the super max and stays 2) or Kawhi does not sign the super max.....and forces the Spurs to wonder and trade him. We'll know one way or the other. Spurs have been super lucky without a lot of drama that most teams normally get. That Duncan/Parker/Ginobili era is an outlier. And as soon as Duncan retired and got out of that locker room, you see things fraying. Spurs deserve to have their fair share of drama like the rest of us.
[Windhorst] I have spoken to several general managers; teams will call the Spurs this off-season and attempt to trade for Kawhi Leonard.
I know it's incredibly messed up, but everytime I read anything by Windhorst I picture him talking with food in his mouth.
Acquiring Hawaii is a risk at this point, given that he either has a lingering injury problem or some sort of mental / attitude issue. But.... it's definitely a risk you take for a borderline MVP player.
Does he love LeBron? I thought it was dirk... Wait no, that's Marc Stein. All fat white guys look alike to me.
"The Cavaliers will consider trading George Hill for Kawhi Leonard and a future 1st, but multiple sauces tell me they are unsure of Kawhi's injury issue and mental health."
