there are rumors that John Turturro will resurrect his role as the Jesus from The Big Lebowski: http://www.indiewire.com/2017/08/th...rturro-details-jesus-going-places-1201870287/
My thoughts are that his people removed his body - and that he did not comeback and was a great spiritual man. He was not named GOD or the SON OF GOD until the Council of Nicea in the 400's where they edited and argued what was and was not Cannon, so yeah, I don't believe a group of men who edited something for their own political gain told the truth.... DD
more than 54% of human population believes he was resurrected Hercle/Herculece the guy known to pose naked and show off his body, came from a God father and a human mother, had extra ordinary talents, used it to fight evils ,got exhausted at one point so he went to a better place, should he be the original , was he resurrected?did he inspire Matthew Weiner!
Jesus the human being did exist. Jesus is by far the most influential person in thousands of years. Muhammad and David don’t even come close in comparison. Did Jesus rise from the dead like depicted in a very limited number of religious texts? Very unlikely. There is no shortage of ignorant fundamentalist Christians that will gladly tell you about Jesus, which is wholly inconsistent with what is known.
There are no eye witness accounts of His life. We got nothing. What we got is belief. There is nothing wrong with that. Belief is the foundation of most religions.
What bothers me is that Jesus is constantly depicted as just some white dude in sandals. A lot of the people that cling to Jesus would hate him if they ever saw him on the street. They'd hate him before they even got to know him. And that sums up my issue with religion.
GO BACK TO YOUR SAND DUNE, CAMEL JOCKEY!! ARE YOU JUST HERE TO BLOW US UP?! Jesus would be getting profiled like a mug.
I saw his tomb in Kashmir years ago. So yeah, he seemed to have survived the crucifixion and traveled to India.
Nah, but religion is important as hell for our society to maintain order and civility...so I'm all for whatever people want to believe that helps them stay on the straight and narrow in their lives. Religion FTW!
Not exactly. The vast majority of historians and archeologists over the last 15 years have concluded that Jesus the man was a teacher and walked the earth over 2000 years ago. Indeed there are various independent sources about Jesus the man shortly after his death. These sources are not all from followers of Jesus either. There are negative Roman and Jewish sources. In all these sources there is no questioning of whether Jesus existed. Indeed the basic outline of Jesus the person is fairly consistent. None of this means Jesus resurrected from the dead. However he likely was a real person. Also concerning getting reliable non biased eyewitness accounts of a figure 2000 years ago is nearly impossible. Even figures such as Alexander the Great are largely based on accounts written after their death or by people with very clear motivations. It is common to have ancient prominent figures depicted completely different in different sources. Historians and scholars weigh the sources and biases and formulate a basic picture of a particular figure. As new evidence emerges, those opinions can change. This basic point is why people that believe in a strict interpretation of the Bible are foolish. However the basic philosophical points are largely not questioned. As for me, I see Jesus as the most significant figure in human history in recorded history. His philosophy and basic teaching were ground breaking and have shaped the Western World to an unbelievable degree. That includes the secular world as well. That is regardless of whether he is viewed as a religious figure or not. There are some known documents with some of his points prior to his existence but few, and the people that held those views failed to ever spread them to the degree that Jesus did. I personally don’t believe Jesus was the son of God as depicted by fundamentalist Christians. What we know is that he was a teacher with a subversive philosophical approach that lived and died. His influence is irrespective of whether he rose from the dead.
To the non-believers? Just about every historian knows that Jesus Christ existed; there has never been any human who wasn't royalty that has had so much written about them. To any who care to learn (I doubt most atheists do) watch "Case for Christ." It is about an atheist whose wife turns towards religion, and he tries to prove to her that Christ didn't get resurrected. It's a good watch for anyone who'd like to see both sides. And it's on Netflix, so not too hard to find.
