On a couple of defensive possessions in the first quarter of the Rockets game, Adams boxed out his man and tipped the rebound that was coming right to him to Westbrook. It was so unnecessary and blatant, both times, that it was comical.
All the voters that voted for WB last year should be ashamed. I'm glad WB is averaging almost a Triple double again this year to show the voters just how dumb they were voting for a guy that went for empty stats instead of making his team and teammates better. Doris Burke last month actually said WB should be MVP again and when asked why, "because he's averaging almost a triple double again" VOTERS ARE DUMB
when all is said and done, will people put an asterisks on wessbrook's triple double season? or will the younger generation blindly eat this up too like wilt's 100?
...and we have a winner. OKMe is just not a team. The don't look, act, or play like one. There is no connection between those players except the bench and oddly enough they play better together than the starters. People keep wondering with the talent why they are so bad and up and down and that is exactly why. In games where Westbrick shoots under 15 shots they win and above they lose. He knows this stat for damn sure and doesn't give a ****. He doesn't play D, he waits around for Adams defensive rebounds instead. His selfishness enables Melo to display the same problems. There is no team rhythm. Ideally, like us, there is a second creator where PG13 and Westbrick stagger their minutes and use Melo like Ryno so that whenever he is out there you let him score on that second unit when things are lean since he plays no defense. About half of Melo's minutes should come with the starting unit at the beginning and end of halves but he wasn't going to the bench. They lack cohesion and were saved early on because of the defensive identity from Adams, Roberson, and PG13. The only team-like thing I have seen from them is Westbrick trying to pick fights and Melo aping his tough guy routine. I remember why I liked Harden so much on the Thunder as I used to watch KD never get the ball from Westbrick and then when Harden came in the game the team played much better. He better get used to Melo because he will be seeing a lot of him after PG13 leaves.
I was replying specifically to what the poster I replied to said. I wasn't explaining why OKC sucks. However, I do disagree with you. Westbrook isn't the only reason.
Keep dodging bro. OkC with Harden = 1st seed Houston with Westbrick = dramarama and fighting for 8th seed
[Royce Young] Carmelo Anthony isn't worried about the Thunder slipping out of the Western playoff picture.
It takes no time at all to say that with Harden instead of Westbrick, the Thunder would be one of the best teams in the NBA and with Westbrick instead of Harden, the Rockets would struggle to make the playoffs.
I'm confused. Can you all please show me where I've disagreed with what you're saying? My post was specifically referring to what a poster said, not this debate over how good OKC would be with Harden etc. Which to me isn't debatable. I agree. And I don't understand why the hell yall are bringing this up.
I concur. Westbrook breeds a me-first culture, which brings out the worst tendencies in everyone else around him especially Melo who is struggling to accept a diminished role late in his career. In Houston, this would have been mitigated by the presence and leadership of Paul who would have kept Melo focused on the bigger picture of winning and making sacrifices for a championship. I honestly believe Melo was readying himself for that kind of commitment last summer, but he landed on the wrong team with the wrong leader and thus he retreated into his shell and old habits took over. Such a shame. If only Melo had the patience to hold out and get his way with the Knicks.
Assuming OKC washes out early in the playoffs and Melo opts into his deal, do you think the Thunder entertain a Ryno-Melo swap? Would cut down their tax bill meaningfully
