In his two Texans games (1 start), he passed for 62%, 300 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs. They obviously think he can be serviceable as a backup. And you keep helping my case. Just like last year, if they think the other two QBs on the roster are better than Weeden, then he is either #3 or getting cut. You're acting like the backup in March must be the backup in September. RG3 hasn't played in a while. Last time he played, he wasn't very good. That's a bigger risk than Weeden.
Like I said, I think RG3 or Blane Gabbert would've been better options than Weeden. Why keep going down the same road with Weeden, if you know where it's going to lead. And this system people keep talking about, has not lead us anywhere. BOB's system was the worst in the NFL, until he changed the SYSTEM for DW4. FIND ANOTHER ATHLETIC QB BOB! I love DW4 but I'm afraid his career here is going to end up like Andre Johnson and JJ Watt.....I chose to spend my $$ on The Rockets!
Did you think at any point in Savage's career that he was better than Weeden? I didn't! But BOB has seen these QB's every day and since he didn't think Weeden was better than Savage. Why bring in someone who was worse than what you had last yr as a backup. GO A DIFFERENT ROUTE
If DW4 is healthy then they are a top 10-15 team. He can make up for a multitude of sins andcheapness.
Until last season, people all over (even on here) were excited about Savage's potential. It was mostly because we hadn't seen him fail like he did last season. And part of that is the offensive line being so bad. Tom had the "upside", plus they needed to see what they had before he became a free agent. Not saying I agree with that thought process but that was probably what was going on. With Weeden you know what you're getting. Best case, he's your #3. But he's still a serviceable backup.
Same can be said for Packers/Rodgers, Patriots/Brady, Falcons/Ryan, Steelers/Ben, Panthers/Cam, etc. Pretty much all the really good QBs
repost Bill O'Brien told me Watson is ahead of schedule; expect him to throw at some point during maybe 7-on-7 off the field. O'Brien said it's fortunate yet unfortunate at the same time. He had the ACL in the other knee & knows how the process goes. Ahead of schedule. J.J. Watt should be 100%. Are they going to run the same offense? Bill told me they're putting an entirely different offense. We had a lot of success with what he was doing but everyone saw what we did with Deshaun. They're changing things & it's not even completely put into place yet. They're still putting it all together. He said the teaching portion will be the challenge because of his specific skill set that is so different & so lethal at the same time. Teaching will be the aspect but they are changing things up dramatically.
I think its rather apparent they are still going to run something rather similar. Different offense can mean a lot of things coming from a different coach. I still envision a ton of mis direction out of the pocket to buy time for a bad OL.
I would highly consider next years first and second for OBJ. I guess the idea of Watson-Hop-OBJ is too much for me to think rationally.
He probably means a different offense than the one they started the season with. I imagine a lot of the offense with Watson last year was ad-hoc not necessarily from an installed offense. I think (hope) now they are going to take what was working and install it as the offense they start training camp with.
