who's they? you're around or listen to the wrong people then. cp3 and melo are in no way comparable. cp3 has never been a black hole. a pure pg from the beginning of his career. whats tiresome is hearing all the excuses.
Are you kidding, everybody said that. Only one ball, Harden is useless next to ball dominant Paul, and Paul is useless next to ball dominant Harden. Somehow it works in Houston and not in OKC.
no im not kidding. some of yall listen to some of these media reports that you love to hate and take it that seriously. doing what they want you to do. go back to the threads when the trade happen. yeah there were a few non believers that didn't think the pair would work but it was discussed over and over on why it would.
OKC plays without offensive scheme. Put him in his places and he will give you some no doubt... and what they got in common with CP? They are A+ talent I'm not trying to portrait him as a saviour because we good even without him but to act like Ryno with bad season like current one - let me remind you he makes 2 threes along with 10 points a night with below average defense while playing almost 30min a night - is better in any shape of form than Carmelo Anthony is something i just won't believe
Somehow? It works for Paul and Harden because they're both POINT guards. They score, but also look to pass. They've both have been leaders in assists. Melo and George have never been known for their passing. They rely on someone to give them ball so they can score. Players like Paul and Harden look for the best play possible, even if that means they don't get to score.
if shooting 38% from deep is considered a bad season, Ill definitely take that. most players would dream of shooting that well especially with high volume.
Multiple OKC players having the worst seasons in their careers playing with Westbrook. Coincidence? Media: Yes.
I doubt it. They have a 3 game lead over 9th with seven games left to go. Denver has a tough schedule themselves and are a horrible road team. The Clippers are 4 games behind and have been struggling themselves. The West has been so mediocre that 45 wins probably gets into the playoffs this season.
You make the right points but your conclusion is wrong. OKC sucks because of Westbrick, period. Harden and Cp3 are true point guards in that they generate plays for other people. Westbrick oth is one of the biggest blackholes in history and even worse than that is his shot is broken, he is just inflating his stats through volume shooting. Westbrick isn't interested in making plays for others, his first, 2nd and 3rd priority is himself which is just nuts because he should be the 4rth option on that team behind George, Melo and Adams (who can score in the post if given the opportunity). Melo and PG don't make plays, so what? They are scorers and it is Westbrick's job to get them the ball at the right places. Thats like blaming Anderson and Eric Gordon for not making plays for Nene wtf. If Harden and Westbrick switched places they would be no 1 seed and might be seen as better than GSW. If we had Westbrick instead Harden we would be 0.500 and Cp3 would have demanded a trade by the deadline since he can't stand how big of a ballhog Westbrick is. KD doesn't want to be an Alpha and even he ran away from Westbrick.
Russell Westbrook has a "Why Not? Tour" shirt with all 42 triple-doubles from his historic 2016-17 season. That's the difference between Championship caliber players and those that just play for stats, I don't think Kobe had a tshirt commemorating his 81 point game or MJ his 6 titles, I could be wrong?
Just gonna call this now.....the LAST GAME of the season for the Thunder is against the GRIZZLIES. And at this moment Westbrook has to average around 12.2 RPG to average a triple double for the season. He still has to play good teams to get those 12 per game. If he needs like 19 or 20 rebounds in that LAST game is going to be HIGH COMEDY watching him go after that. (Especially if their seed is already locked up).
Melo is not just a catch and shoot player though. In the summer we all wanted USA Melo and we talked about it so much that we convinced ourselves that this was the kind of player we we're going to get, but Melo has proven otherwise this year. His favorite is not catching is shooting, it's actually isolating in the low block and taking inefficient jumpers. He should have been motivated with OKC, even Russ, as selfish as he is, was scaling his game back earlier in the year just to give Melo and George more isolation looks. It took until mid season for them to realize one or than had to sacrifice. It was Melo that sacrificed but even then his game still is the iso bullshit he loves. I just don't think Melo would fit a role on the Rockets well. Ryno may be inferior but he absolutely knows his role and that is key on this team.
[sarcasm]But if he averages a triple double, doesn't he HAVE to be MVP? Wasn't that the reasoning last season? It is quite possible OKC will have a better record and playoff positioning than last season.[/sarcasm]
It might change by season's end but Adams is actually the leader in Win Shares and WS/48 for this team. I though that was interesting when I looked at the team's season stats.
An aside, in the last OKC game Steven Adams had 10 rebounds. And NINE of them were offensive. That is insane. Basically on all of his defensive rebound attempts he just boxes out for Westbrook to collect the board.
Watching the Thunder play, this is the least surprising stat of the season. Westbrook marginalizes all their wing players, and Adams is left doing all of the dirty work that actually leads to wins.
Lol at his rebounding stats. Westbrook owes him a ton. 2nd in offensive rebounds 107th in defensive rebounds & 1st in box outs...by a huge margin
