But does Dez still got it? I don't know if there is something with Dax or if father time is catching up with him.
Romo retires and all of a sudden Dez has lost it. He's never been a great route runner or a guy who doesn't depend on his QB to throw him open. Dax struggles to throw guys open.
It's really weird for the GM to be talking like that unless they have a plan to bring in a starter...I mean, as of now, Griffin is the starter, why talk him down?
i'll admit it; i liked Gaine's candor when he was asked the question. I wanted to know if he legitimately thought we could get through the season with Griffin as our starter ...because that would have been a litmus test for me regarding his level of competance. Ryan Griffin is a backup TE who has had many many chances to show that he's a starting TE. He is clearly not. Gaine was just stating the obvious. But from team standpoint, i do think he should have dodged the question by saying something about how they like what Griffin brings and that there's a lot of other talent at that position on the roster that could surprise folks, and that we also feel good about what's out there in the draft. Something like that. As another poster said, no reason to talk down Griffin when he's our only option right now.
Twenty-five safeties remain on the market. Some safeties are "literally getting nothing. I'm not even talking one year, $3 million. Nothing"
The GM did not talk him down. He called him a contributor and that's what he is, what the film says, that's what the stats say. No need to get butthurt. Do you plan to sign a tight end now that TE C.J. Fiedorowicz has retired? “First and foremost, to talk about C.J. (Fiedorowicz), C.J. has retired from football. I was here when C.J. was drafted and I had a chance to watch C.J.’s maturation as a professional. Very tough decision for him to do that. We do have some good solutions in the building. We feel very good about our tight end position right now as it relates to who’s here, but we’re always going to be looking to upgrade the roster. C.J. was an important, integral part of the offense. Very versatile guy. He was able to block at the point of attack, he could help us in the passing game, was good in pass protection. So, we wish him well.” Do you feel like TE Ryan Griffin can be your No. 1 tight end? “I feel like Ryan Griffin can be a contributing tight end for us and our offense.” Never started more than 8 games (8, 2, 4, 5, 6) Receptions: 19, 10, 20, 50, 13 Has surpassed 400 yards only once (244, 91, 251, 442, 158) 7 TDs in 5 seasons (Tom Savage is impressed) (1, 1, 2, 2, 1) But the GM didn't name me the starting tight end & only called me a "contributor"?! How dare he!
While I don't see a direct slam to Griffin, I believe Gaine is nudging Griffin by saying your not the starting TE by default. You need to earn the job bucko, so don't assume anything.
i dont understand why we are not bringing in a Veteran TE for a visit (It doesn't make sense to me) We should have atleast vistied with some TE already) The Team needs to help Deshaun Watson and a better TE would help Deshaun Watson alot) I understand we can draft one, but why not sign a veteran... The TE's on your roster are not any good... I like Anderson, but would release Griffin.. The guy cannot stay healthy..
