Wouldn’t Holton Hill the hometown kid be something lol. I just graduated with him from Lamar High in 2015...yeah I’m a young cat I know lol. Last I checked though he had a round 2 grade. Although I know he had issues near the end of the year, I think suspension, I too think he’d be a steal in the 3rd or 4th. Dudes a freak athlete and built like a tank. He’d be perfect for replacing the glass man Kevin Johnson.
I would be very happy with this draft. Three very talented guys who could start early is about all you could hope for with no first or second round picks. I think Gaine would have to trade up in the third to get both Brown and Andrews.
Off the field issues has him dropping to the 3rd or 4th round. Sure hope Texans snag him or DeShon Elliot or both
First attempt at a Mock draft this year. A mixture of what I think the Texans will do (position wise) & who I'd go with (player wise) blend of need & BPA 3. Braden Smith (OG) Auburn Beast of a man. Helped pave the way for Auburns dominant rushing attack. Started 40 games in a row. 3. Nyheim Hines (RB) NC St. BOB wants this type of back for the offense. Tyler Ervin hasn't came close to filling it. Hines is more than a scat back though. He regularly took it up the gut and ran through tackles. Think Dion Lewis. 3. Quenton Meeks (CB/S) Stanford His slow 40 time (4.64) has risen questions if he can stay at corner and may cause him to fall in the draft. I'm unbothered by it. We take advantage of a steal here. He helps our secondary regardless of where he's at. (Ran a 4.50 at his pro day today) 4. Ade Aruna (OLB) Tulane Tore it up at the combine. A bit raw but has nearly identical measurable to Clowney. Big upside in the 4th. We have a need at OLB. Brennan Scarlett has done zilch. 6. Natrell Jamerson (S) Wisconsin Only a one year starter but played a big part in helping Wisconsin be the #1 defense in pass efficiency defense in 2017. Would be a great get here. 6. Zachary Crabtree (OT) Oklahoma St. 4 year starter. Adds to the nonexistent OT depth. 6. Ryan Izzo (TE) Florida St. One of the better blocking TE's in the class. Won't offer much in the passing game. I'll take it late in the 6th. 7. Christian Lacouture (DE) LSU Fits the mold we look for in a DE. Adds some competition. Angelo Blackson & Joel Health deserve to have some.
Nice job. I've added a few comments above. My son likes Meeks as well. When I do mocks, I'm looking for a TE, OT and CB or S in 3rd-4th rounds. However, if a talented player falls we should be willing to take them as well.
Thanks for the feedback. Have a feeling Kelemete will end up playing one of the tackle positions with Davenport/Henderson vying for the other spot. Smith would have a chance to immediately start at RG. Shark, you are probably right about Meeks draft position. Posting that 4.50 definitely didn't hurt his cause. I'd be thrilled with him at our first pick in the 3rd too.
We've been linked to Schultz so much this offseason. Seems like a good replacement for CJF as far as being to do it all in the blocking and passing game.
