Shocking, are you saying that adequate security prevented a shooting at a school from becoming a mass shooting? Who would have thought this was possible?

Absolutely you should be. When people set out to kill other people in a free society, they are going to be able to do it more often than not, the best you can hope for is to limit the damage when broken people attempt to harm others.

Now we could potentially create a police state where the people are so powerless that it makes it very difficult for a random person to hurt other people....unless they are part of the state in which it would then be very easy to kill people without repercussion, but I don't think that's the kind of country you'd want to live in.

Mental health and gun control is serious business. So let's try tackling both.

It was a great job by a police officer, which they also had in Parkland.

But, FWIW, this doesn't seem to be a mass shooting incident, but rather a person who targeted another person. Personally, I'd like to see shooter's father be held responsible.

    Fake news.

Cop and kid were crisis actors hired by the NRA.

Is there an online job board for crisis actors? I'm about to be unemployed and am interested in a new career.

If possible I'd like the bit role of the guy that says "gee, Haymitch was a quiet guy, rarely posted, always stuck to himself".

The difference of course being that the officer in Parkland was a coward and this one was not. When I say "adequate security" I'm not just talking about numbers. Having a random coward who will run away if he's actually needed as a security guard is a lot like not having any security at all.

It's also possible that this guy only wanted to harm one person....but we don't know if he would have stopped after shooting 2 people, the one target plus the random kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. For all we know, he'd have started targeting others if the security guard was as worthless as that POS in Parkland was. Fortunately, it's not something we really have to think about because he was neutralized before we could find out.

When it comes to holding the father responsible for the kid's actions, I'm not against that necessarily. I think people should have a responsibility to secure their weapons and if they don't do so within reason, there should be some kind of repercussions for it. That said, if he did take reasonable steps to secure his weapons and those steps simply failed, I wouldn't support punishing the guy.

You know the students at that school are still dealing with having two classmates shot, another one dead and a security officer that had to kill a student at the school.

Obviously what happened is better than mass fatalities, but what happened is far from ideal for everyone involved.

Has somebody actually claimed schools don't need adequate security? Faux outrage is quiet pathetic. Maybe simpletons like you can only focus on one solution at a time, but its quiet possible that mass murders would go down further if there was adequate security AND killers couldn't get there hands on a semi-auto.
