Well you might be right about that. I can't speak for those people. But the definition I was familiar with had always been about committing acts of violence to achieve some political ends. Further searching led to a politifact article talking about the definition of the word and how it can even be substantially different between the various federal agencies. So, who knows. Words don't matter. We've always been at war with Eurasia etc etc.
In your definition, it said "intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments" and often for political reason, but not required. I'd consider this terrorism, just by the fact that its scaring a lot of people and they're changing their day to day lives because of it.

Honestly that was similar to one of my first off the wall thoughts about this. Like it was someone that got laid off from a retail store due to online competition killing the market and they were out for revenge or something to that effect. Probably not the case, but it's not the worst theory.
