Texans better be ready to defend tight ends: Doyle/Ebron, ASF/Mercedes, Delanie (and RB Dion). All in the division

IIRC, that was a big reason they drafted Cunningham. Hopefully he takes a big step forward this season. Haven't heard any news on Derek Johnson which is a little surprising. He's old but still had a productive year. Wonder if he could be had for a vet minimum deal.

    Baltimore screwed Grant.

    Signs Grant to big deal
    Said deal scrutinized
    Fails him on his physical
    Signs Michal Crabtree instead.

Ryan Grant's four-year, $29 million contract with the Ravens has been voided after he failed his physical, sending him back to free agency.
Grant's deal — which included $14.5 million guaranteed — was widely criticized as an overpay, and this seems like an underhanded tactic by the Ravens to get out of it. It's extremely similar to what happened between the Raiders and Rodger Saffold in 2014. Suspiciously, the news came soon after it was reported the Ravens were interested in Michael Crabtree, who was released on Thursday. 27-year-old Grant, who has never posted more than 573 yards in a season, now heads back to a market where he could struggle to get even half the guaranteed money he had landed in Baltimore

Exactly about Cunningham. Dude has speed as LB and has good coverage that should get better after a year in the league.

Also, would love to take a flyer on Derek Johnson for vet min. Come on home DJ.

Because the Texans are so reactionary. They actually got Cunningham to cover pass-catching RBs. You want your DBs going after the TEs, not your LBs. Whoever is slot corner or free safety alongside Mathieu is going to be challenged often.

Would rather go for a young Marty Bennett.

He's a solid blocker but his big play days are over. They will most likely draft a tight end and pick one up in udfa class.

Pass. Old as ****, can't cover, can't hit, can barely tackle efficiently. I would take a look at Hali though

I suppose? if the Texans think they need TE help (but I haven't gotten that feeling that they think they need help there).

Turns 34 in May, not much of a receiving threat.

Posted it earlier but I don't love any (TE) options out there.

    Zach Miller(33): 8 games/20 rec/236 yds/2 TD
    Antonio Gates(37): 16/30/316/3
    Neal Sterling(26)(RFA): 11/6/82/0
    Sean McGrath(30)(RFA): 15/4/46/0
    Levine Toilolo(26): 15/12/122/1
    John Phillips(31): 1/0/0/0
    Logan Paulsen(31): 14/0/0/0
    Ifeanyi Momah(28)(RFA): 9/1/46/0
    Richard Rodgers(26): 15/12/160/1
    Luke Willson(28): 16/15/153/4
    Julius Thomas(29): 14/41/388/3
    Brandon Williams(30): 14/13/121/0
    Martellus Bennett(31): 9/30/286/0
    Benjamin Watson(37): 16/61/522/4
    Anthony Fasano(33): 16/12/107/1
    Jeff Cumberland(30): 7/2/2/0
    Brent Celek(33): 16/13/130/1
    Troy Niklas(25): 15/11/132/1
    Asante Cleveland(26)
    Chris Gragg(27)
    Clay Harbor(30)
    Scott Simonson(26)(RFA)
    Mychal Rivera(27)
    Marcedes Lewis(33): 16/24/318/5

Luke and Marty look like the best options for us at TE.

It's what happens when you let the Trey Burton, ASF, and Ebron (edit: Cam Brate, Eifert, Virgil) go elsewhere.

Yes, those were the best available which goes back to my point, maybe they don't feel they need a TE. (I & others obviously disagree). Or maybe they'll draft one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Felt like the Texans took one every other year with Kubiak, usually from Wisconsin. ;)
