I loved it, up until that point Deng was ticking me off. He seemed to be aggravated (probably because of the teams inability to play) and was making some reckless plays physically. The push of CP3 just confirmed that for me. We don't need frustrated aholes doing that to our team and if we buck up to it then better for us
I like it. But Paul clearly flopped and duped his own teammate. He made the push look a lot worse than it was. Green's reaction was fine given his angle on the play. I don't think he was thinking about the fans atm
To be fair to Dieng - he barely did anything, Paul, uh, 'accentuated the minimal contact'... might end up costing his team mate
Knucklehead move. Clutch is too kind. CP provokes Dieng, takes the push, and falls down, earning the T. Green, failing to understand what just happened, rushes in like a loyal dog and messes up the scene CP just engineered. When CP gets up, he's not angry at Dieng. He's trying to pull Green away. Exactly the kind of stupid that makes a coach doubt you can be trusted under pressure.
yeah, I'm with you on the flop, which foiled Gerald into retaliating. Deng pretty much only slapped Paul on the butt. anyhoot: I don't really care much. I just think it's funny. And anyone who wants to laugh with me about the irony of the situation is all I'm after. Someone arguing with us over the extent of the slap to Paul's butt vs a legit push is an unfortunate consequence of us trying to find some humor in an NBA game. imo, you're also stating another reason to never flop. It backfired on Paul. Kinda funny to me.
He played really well for Boston last year in the playoffs. He has already shown up a few times for the Rockets in big games. He’s a game changer when he is locked in.
I love Gerald Green. I love his hustle and fearlessness and how hard he's working on defense. He's everything Joe Johnson isn't. But TBH I think what this incident lets upcoming teams know (along with the Clippers incident) is that he's easily baited.
My opinion is the ref was slow with the whistle and that may have gave enough time for Green to react. It was clear that Dieng turned into a thug in that moment and was intent on pushing CP3 albeit he may have reigned himself in and not pushed him as hard as he looked like he initially was going to. But, there's the ref getting ready to whistle something but doesn't. This then gives Green time to react and, before you know it, the situation blows up. If the ref wouldn't have been slow on the whistle, then it may have stopped before Green reacted. I don't know what that ref was waiting for to make the initial call??? The ref thought about it too long before making the call when it was right in front of him. He started to but hesitated just enough.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Green is not a Rhodes Scholar, for sure. And he sprints to other guys on the floor to help them up when they're down. He totally goes off of his emotions and has zero restraint. A high risk, high reward guy for sure when you never know which moment will set him off. That being said, I'm OK with what he did here, and I am OK with a suspension for it. Just once I'd like to see a Rocket do this to a Bogut/Green/Pachulia in the playoffs.
No matter how much I like GG,,, he then goes an does something that makes me like him even more! He is the man - I hope he retires a Rocket!
Might have been excessive, maybe it’s low IQ, it could have possible cost us value points, momentum and even the game. I don’t care though....it’s worth it just to put the league on notice that the rockets won’t be punked. The rockets need to be known for their toughness and edginess. Glad we have him on the team to be the enforcer. Nothing worse then getting shoved and then laying down for it.
i am more than a little concerned at the thought of not having enforcer green in the arena come tuesday where thug mccollum roams freely to impose his merciless fists of iron upon opponents such as ourselves
I love it! You never want something like this to get to fisticuffs, but I have this memory of punk-ass Derek Fisher deliberately hitting Luis Scola on a screen and the rest of the team was looking at the refs to do something with Luis on the floor instead of going at Fisher. Love that Green had CP's back. He was ready to fight Doc Jr for Ariza too. Rockets are lacking in crazy.
