The anatomy of a witch hunt (for witnesses corroborating Comey's assertion of obstruction of justice against Trump)

Shortly after the inaugural, there was widespread reporting that Trump’s NSA Advisor, Michael Flynn, had lie about his meetings w Russian envoys discussing US sanctions against Russia. In a dinner meeting at the WH, the POTUS managed to usher out Sessions, Prievus and Kushner from the room, leaving him alone w the then-FBI Director James Comey. Trump then asked Comey to drop his investigation of Michael Flynn; Comey was shocked by Trump’s disregard for the rule of law, and took extemporaneous notes to document this attempt at obstruction of justice, and then shared them w his top aides which included

    • chief of staff James Rybicki

    • deputy director Andrew McCabe

    • James Baker
Sensing that Comey would not kowtow to him, Trump later ordered Comey's boss, AG Session, to draft a memo to fire Comey, referencing Comey’s supposed mis-handling of the Clinton email investigation as the reason for termination.

Trump then appointed a new FBI director, Christopher Wray, who eventually re-assigned / forced out Rybiki and Baker, both of whom had qualified for Government pension.

In late 2017, Trump tweeted his disgust w McCabe, calling for his firing and insinuated that his pension would be denied.

An internal review group---referencing his supposed handling of the Clinton email case---recommended the firing of McCabe; AG Session, who had previously lied to Congress twice and had been in Trump’s dog house, fired McCabe last night, ~ 26 hrs short of McCabe qualifying for his Government pension

    McCabe’s response:

“I am being singled out and treated this way because of the role I played, the actions I took,

and the events I witnessed in the aftermath of the firing of James Comey,”

the effort to discredit me is “part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally.”

This juvenile act by trump and his minion, The Weasel, goes beyond the pale. The firing of FBI Deputy Director McCabe after his fine service to the nation for 20 years is the sort of thing one might expect from a middle school bully, not the alleged President of the United States and the certified liar before Congress, Sessions, who merely pulled the trigger for trump. Somehow, they don't think the country will notice what they have done to Andrew McCabe, but they are wrong. This is exactly the sort of thing the country notices. An act of maliciousness against a servant of the public for the crime of not sticking his nose up trump's ass. Everyone is talking about it. This will be remembered in November.

Perhaps in this case... Mueller and the wheels of justice have actually found the witches...

Former Deputy FBI Director is lawyer up; Michael Bromwich of the Bromwich Group has confirmed to The Daily Beast that he is representing McCabe for the purposes of the matter that led to his firing.

Bromwich was formerly the inspector general of the Justice Department, thus he is familiar w the operations of the internal review group that had recommended the firing of McCabe.

Well, a lawsuit could lead to discovery which could lead to a treasure trove of documents. Trump better hope White House staff and Trump aides were disciplined in using encrypted communication apps when discussing these matters and that the apps they have been using aren't compromised by our intel services.

Democrats called for an investigation. Obama appointed and democratic Senate confirmed IG does the investigation. Investigation finds McCabe to be a liar. Ethics director who was appointed by Mueller recommends firing McCabe. Must be a witch hunt by trump. Btw the investigation that found McCabe guilty started before Trump was in office.

Comey says he never authorized anyone to leak information to reporters. McCAbe statement claims Comey gave him permission to leak to reporters. Comey lies again.

In one the testimony says Comey did not authorize leaks. The second statement from McCabe says Comey was aware that McCabe, as part of his role, had conversations with the press. What is the contradiction in the two statements?

Comey: I didn't authorize any leaks to the press regarding the Hillary email investigation
McCabe: Comey authorized me to leak to the press about the Hillary email investigation

This is what McCabe was fired for. He's defending himself by saying 'Comey said I could' . Comey testified otherwise.

Here's a lefty site for you:
    http://thehill.com/opinion/judiciar...-life-tough-for-comey-and-the-special-counsel

McCabe reportedly has said he will take others down with him. This might be what he means.

I am certainly open to the possibility of a politically motivated witch hunt. Hell the House investigation into collusion is an absolute joke and was completely orchestrated by Republicans as cover for Trump.

Having said that, in this case McCabe has problems. The investigation was conducted by an Obama appointee. So Sessions is justified in firing him. I am open to listening to what McCabe has to say and maybe there is more to the story. However I am skeptical at this point.

I will only add to my earlier point that it should also be considered that it is expected that the allegation that McCabe lied, is over something that was DAMAGING to the Clinton campaign and that McCabe (a life long Republican) was pushing for the investigation to continue.

I don't see how this affects the investigation as a whole at all.
