47% from the field isn't all that great when you factor in that most of those shots were two-pointers, which he shoots only 49% on, and his 3 pointer is a non-factor at 21-25% the last two years shooting only one per game. Even worse, unlike other jumper-challenged point guards like Westbrook, Rondo, Ish Smith, and Elfrid Payton, Rose lacks court vision and good judgement (1.6 AST to 1.8 TOV in CLE). On top of all that, he's a defensive liability. Even then, his bio-mechanics are so awful and put so much unnecessary strain on his ligaments that he will only play about 65 games tops, and thats on a minutes restriction.

Rose's career reminds me of Brandon Roy. Of course Roy was never MVP, but he was an up and coming superstar. The knees just fell apart and it sadly ended his career. It sucks, but it's part of the game. It's why I worry about guys like Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid. I want to beat their teams every time we play, but they are great players and I would hate to see their careers ruined by injuries.
Rose's ability is completely dependent on quickness and athleticism where as Roy was a very savvy with the ball. Roy is more like Harden in terms of athleticism and would have had a long career if he had any cartilage in his knees at all.
Let's also not forget Brandon Roy didn't have the serious problem between the ears like Derrick Rose. He was also a very strong alpha dog and locker room presence who didn't take anything from anybody and acted as a mediator between a distant coach and the rest of the team. Brandon Roy was more than "up and coming". He actually was a superstar. The problem is he played for the Blazers and his style wasn't visually appealing. His numbers suffered because of the very slow, plodding pace and bland offense they had under Nate McMillan. When his knees became a problem, most NBA fans didn't realize how good he was. I watched him nearly every night for 3 seasons. During his 3 year peak, he was as good a game manager and closer as anyone, including Kobe and Wade. It's just that nobody was watching.
