It’s pretty clear that pgbriel doesn’t know much about what he is saying in this thread. Maybe good intentions, but somewhat remind me of “Just Say No”. Utterly simplistic and useless.

Those in power, yes. But not the public. Republicans general public want gun law changes. Those that are fine is a small minority and the majority of republican (and some dem) in power

One can say that about any issue these days. <insert party here> is fine with <insert thing here>. <insert party here> wants to change it.

But...I was asking what the Republicans have proposed about personal responsibility and fixing broken homes that the Democrats have refused to meet with them about?

Agreed emotion trumps logic over a misguided notion of what freedom is framed from the lens of the 18th century.

Emotion trump logic. Some folks think an antiquated amendment should be timeless. Bizarre.

Which are what....? That we should follow a law about militias written in the 18th century?

LOL. What a flaccid cop out. The GOP's war on drugs needs to end, start there.

Why not the other way around? It's the GOP's policies that are the cause of mass incarceration and broken families.

Wrong. That is the territory of the family. It isn't for government to get involved with that. Telling families how to live their lives isn't the job of either political party and the Democrats have been against that for a long time.

It doesn't matter they aren't proposing to change laws.

Democrats are proposing changes that upset people so they have to make the argument

Don't ask the same ish again

One party wants changes they have to make the argument

    Simple ish

Edit: Jesus the whole premise of the thread is "is if Democrats want change they should"

If Republicans want changes to the law then start a thread but stop asking me the same damn question

Dysfunctional families should be left alone?

You don't think long term the families themselves will appreciate the change

America is the most violent industrial nation so people who don't want guns laws changed for their protection have a legitimate argument

You can make the argument that we need more investment in education for instance

Education has to happen at home

This country has a lot invested in safety nets currently

Families aren't sleeping on the streets

If your issue is Republicans don't care about broken homes that doesn't change the premise of the thread so argue that elsewhere

Dysfunctional families should seek whatever help they need and work on fixing the problems that make them dysfunctional. That is for them to take care of that. It is not the job government to do this.

While it isn't a big concern for Democrats coverage of therapy that goes with insurance would be more likely to be supported by Democrats.

I wish healthcare insurance did cover mental disorder

A topic for another thread but I agree with your criticism of Republicans fighting universal healthcare
