Yeah, I know: Until we prove it in the playoffs, it doesn't count. BUT... It's pretty common knowledge that we're sitting on the best offensive rating by any team in NBA history. Here's another cool stat about this year's Rockets: Despite all the injuries to starters, with the season nearly 80% finished our won-loss record currently ranks among the top 15 of the last 35+ years. Those of you who are still convinced that there's no chance of us getting past the Warriors in the playoffs might be in for a rude awakening. This team is not merely great, they're HISTORICALLY great.
They are, but I am cautiosly optimistic. Pistons have destroyed the Lakers Big 4, the 8th seed GSW have downed MVP Nowitzki. Jus saying.
Good catch. Turns out the stats I was looking at were from 1973-74 to 2017-18. I'll correct the post, but STILL... Re-ran the stats for every NBA season and we come out at #20 ALL-TIME (including the Washington Capitals of the old Basketball Association of America). Nothing to sneeze at.
Regardless of what happens in the playoffs I feel like this has been a great year to be a Rockets fan. It's been fun as hell!
Alternative titles the OP rejected: JUST how great is this team? Just how GREAT is this team? Just how great IS this team? Just how great is THIS team? Just how great is this TEAM?
Agreed. I'm enjoying this run because I already know how nervous I'll be in the playoffs. I can already so my Houston sports pessimism driving up from here. The Astros helped that a little but it's still there.
I think roughly all those teams have been relatively healthy and thats part of the reason for their success.. the 1995 bulls pippen played 77 games jordan played 82.. 2015 warriors Klay, Steph and Dray all played 81 games.. Our 11-4 start would probably be 12-2 with Cp3, and the five games we lost would probably at worst be 3-2.. That would put us around at around 56-8 and on track to win 70-72 games for the year.. I really think that's where we are...
rockets opened the first 15 games without CP3, in which they were 11-4.. also the five game losing streak had no Cp3.. if the rox were to replay all 20 games with a healthy big 3.. no way are they going worst then 15-5 and that would put us at 56-8 and 6 games in front of the warriors.. obviously the warriors have had their own injury issues, but they have 4 damn all stars.. and even if one goes out they should be able to play at a level of a 65 win team..
I could have sworn the Shaq-Kobe lakers won 67 games one season edit - yeah their 99-00 season the Lakers were 67-15 Also just want to say how ridiculous the 08-09 Cavs winning 66 games was. Look at the roster LeBron had
We’re like 34-1 when CP3, Harden, and Capela play, and that 1 loss required a Boogie sacrifice for us to lose by 2 on the road. Imagine a team winning 35 straight games when 3 players are in the lineup . We would be the clear favorites for the title if not for GS. If not for the injuries to Harden and CP3 we would have a 3 or 4 game lead on GS at least. I might be coming across as overconfident in this team, but I watch the games with no worries. I expect a dub every time they step on the court. trap game, 2nd night of a B2B...it doesn’t matter
@topfive Your list is missing several teams. Aside from what others have mentioned, Spurs won 67 just a couple years ago.
