Leonard definitely doesn’t deserve a big shoe deal. You have to have a personality and put yourself out there to earn a big contract and let fans connect with you. Leonard refuses to do any marketing and PR.

I don't know what he's unhappy about honestly. He's not willing to put in the work for the brand why would they pay him more.

If he feels like he's not getting his worth he could always go to other brands

It smells like another bad agent screwing up a player's relationship with the team. Kawhi has a lot more to lose than the likes of DMo if he's not careful.

One could argue that he's a proven winner without a winner's accolades. We all just assumed he was like Timmy.

Then there's the fact that good Tier 1-2 max contract players are underpaid relative to the rest of the league. That's why you have Super Friends and people wanting to bolt to big cities like LA.

Harden had a ridiculously underpaid max contract where he was sometimes the 3rd best paid player on the team. He didn't have to gripe about it for obv reasons, but that sick Adidas contract settled any doubt of him feeding his family.

It makes a lot of business sense. It just runs against all we know about the Spurs org and what our perceptions of Kawhy so far.

Kawhi can definitely have his own signature shoe lol y'all trippin. Kawhi and plenty of other players could definitely have their own signature shoes. I think some companies are just lazy, scared, and don't want to put in the effort. It's all about effort. Branding has more to do with a company than it does with a player. An elite player can be branded.

Kawhi likely will not find any success with Jordan though. Jordan's most successful guy was Carmelo Anthony, and those weren't the best shoes either. They did nothing with Chris Paul, and Westbrook is barely getting a signature. Dwyane Wade left after a year as well despite doing a little well with Converse. Blake Griffin has been with Jordan for how long now? And where has he played? Los Angeles? Literally the biggest place to play to expand your brand. He has no signature shoe, but is out here making KIAs look nice. Jordan Brand is terrible with marketing its players, and that is not on Kawhi Leonard. Don't blame Kawhi. If a company wanted to push Kawhi as their number two or three for their basketball line then they absolutely could. Companies are just very reluctant.

I believe Jordan is very lazy with the players they have. How have Blake and Westbrook not had their own signature shoes yet? Westbrook is barely getting one. How have Carmelo and Chris Paul's shoes totally flopped? Chris Paul played in L.A. He was the best PG in the league for a while. He got outsold by Derrick Rose with Adidas, and Steph Curry with Under Armour. You're telling me CP3 isn't marketable when he's making insurance commercials in Los Angeles? Hell to the nah. Jordan brand is lazy. Kawhi is not to blame.

The same goes with Basketball Nike, but to a lesser extent. They do try, but they're very reluctant to push NBA players. They helped market LeBron with the entire Witness branding, but Kobe was already an established player and Kevin Durant is just a generational talent who could be a MVP in any era. Nike let go of BOTH Stephen Curry and James Harden. Instead they gave shoe deals to Kyrie Irving and Paul George. Kyrie is a byproduct of Pepsi's branding and being Lebron's teammate. Paul George actually got pretty lucky, and I think they're doing a solid job with him. To be honest I think they're a little worried. They got Paul George, and they better give Giannis his own shoe deal too. Anthony Davis doesn't even have his own shoe. Basketball Adidas will never catch up, but they have made it extremely close. Adidas doesn't have the star power that Nike (Jordan) has, but if they had Westbrook? Lol. Those "MVP edition" Adidas Westbrook volume 4s would have been nice.

    Yes. Doesn't mean he's a good agent.

Look at Lonzo Ball's "agent" dad. All he does is alienating him from the team, telling the team that he doesn't care about the team, just how much money he can make.

It's simple: Kawhi needs to grow a beard and people might pay attention.

He demonstrates no personality, has no social media presence, does nothing flashy on the floor and has no national commercials.

His play on the floor is clearly deserving, but they are in the business of selling shoes. I'm completely fine with low key players, but this is clearly a sacrifice one makes when you are that way. You want to up your Q rating, go grow your brand.

As good as he is. . . . the question is simple. . . Can he sell shoes?
He seems bothered about no players coming to San An . . . .so he cannot sell San An to any other players?
But we suppose to expect him to sell shoes

That's partly how Nike lost Curry, although Curry didn't even demand the signature. If he goes to LA or Boston - Nike will be there with a big check. Initially, Kyrie Irving didn't "earn" his signature shoe 4 years ago when his team won 28 games.

You’re hella wrong. Kawhi if he doesn’t have a personality or off the court brand, he needs to have an exciting game which he doesn’t. He doesn’t do social media, he doesn’t do commercials, he does nothing.

Jordan Brand sucks. All people care about is retros from Jordan.
