I don't think Republicans have better ideas on broken homes but I do think it's time to put more responsibility in the communities to fix themselves..

Only so much government can do.
At some point the patient has to make changes

The Obama Foundation is already keenly focused on the heart of Chicago’s issues and is really the main mission of the foundation.

    Also-

The Democratic Party doesn’t control one branch of the government. It’s up to private citizens, Illinois state law makers, and local law enforcement to fix the issues in Chicago. To blanket “the Democrats” for Chicago’s issues is kind of ridiculous. Chicago’s violence is now on Trumps plate more than it is on the Democratic Party. What has he done to fix inner city violence? What has he done to fix guns crossing state lines from Indiana?

What does this have to do with you not knowing a god damn thing about guns, gun laws, and crime stats? Why are you speed posting on a subject you don't know anything about? Most of the guns that are used in crimes in Chicago are bought in Indiana. Why is that a reflection on Chicago's gun laws? It's not. It's a reflection on Indiana's gun laws. The fact is most guns used in crimes are bought in states with lax gun laws and transported into the states with strict gun laws.

Additionally, a lot of guns used in crime are purchased legally but transferred illegally. There's no mechanism to stop straw purchases. No mechanism to stop people from buying from another person without any kind of a background check. Right now, a felon could arrange to buy a gun from someone online, meet in an Academy parking lot, and buy that gun with no problem. As long as the seller doesn't "knowingly" sell his gun to a felon then he's not breaking the law and of course the most any seller really does to verify that is to ask the buyer if he's legally allowed to buy a gun. When he lies and says yes, then they complete the sale. That's how easy it is for a felon to buy a gun.

The point isn't Chicago, it's crime. So this is better. Make it hard on people purchasing legally and give up in every day violent crime

That will help get stricter laws

Instead of using a small sample size of one city, why not look at the entire country? When you do that, you get a very clear correlation: Places with fewer gun deaths tend to have stricter gun laws. You can look at each state here and what kinds of laws they have in place and what their gun deaths are.

States with strict gun laws have fewer firearms deaths. Here's how your state stacks up

Democrats wanna address gun control, address Chicago

    o_O

If the point is crime, the reality is that crime is about as low as it's been in a long time.

    So what's your point?

Democrats should address Gun lover concerns.

Proposed laws target people trying to buy legally.

Gun legislation shouldn't be driven by mas shootings. Much more people are killed by everyday crime.

Proposed laws want to enforce universal background checks so a guy can't buy a gun in an Academy parking lot from some guy on the internet. Gun legislation on AR15's should be driven by mass shootings with AR15's.
