No, I just went back and re-read the correspondences. You are a Rockets fan and outside of that don't pay full attention to the rest of the NBA and their players, even though others are pointing out their individual greatness, you disregard their opinions and most others... basically just a Rockets fan. And that's it. Right?
Man I loved that season. We were so young and quick. Specifically Harden who was quick and lean. Back then Harden used to run ahead of the pack and catch the outlet and finish. He rarely does that now and I'm not complaining about it either but it sure was exciting. We weren't as good as this or last years squad but we were young fun and exciting. Parsons was a stud back then. We got his best years. Harden looks like he's put on 15 pounds since then. Every thing he did seems quicker. His shot releases, his drives, even his transition defense. I guess he was "raw" back then
Decent trade but I think we could have throw in a guy like Jones or DMo for a real star like CP3. I'd say a young scrappy PF, a project, a draft pick or two, and a veteran scorer is more than fair for Paul. But I guess Harden is ok too. Maybe we can pair him with Dwight Howard?
Naw, it was just because of the mo he used to rock back then In all seriousness, I'm glad he plays slower. The faster and more explosive he plays, the bigger the chance of injury / shortened career. Don't have to list all the players this has happened to.
I'm a bigger Rockets fan than NBA/Player fan, but I still enjoy watching the game and watching the greats play. I don't disregard people's opinions of other players, I just don't get into the nuanced aspects of their play. I'm still going to form my own opinion of these players from what I've seen of them, but it is admittedly from a surface level because I'm not watching every game. I'm not dumb, I can recognize greatness I know CP3 is a superstar player, I know he can shot, I know he can pass, I know how relentless he is as a competitor. But there is no way you can witness just how smart CP3 is unless you are watching all his games. Now that he is a Rocket, I have that benefit.
I thought it was a very even trade at the time because I highly valued Lowry and the pick. I thought harden would turn out to be like a Klay Thompson type of player and we were still a superstar away from contending. I think Harden improved his game every single season its pretty crazy to think about thay.
We were screwed after Yao announced his retirement. Mediocrity and Morey pulls this trade off. I liked harden after he helped destroy dallas and san antonio in the playoffs for okc. I didnt think he was this good as the man. He just gets better every year. We are spoiled sometimes.
And now he is arguably the best offensive locomotive in the league and the mvp . Plus his game has improved so much since that he is on a HOF path. He is now arguably three times the player he was back then... passive aggressive crap is lame
Was at Buffalo Wild Wings by LSU campus when this dropped. Didn't think James was so great. Then.... his first game happened.
I was fighting the good fight in this thread, and elsewhere: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php...-for-a-potential-all-star-an-analysis.227951/ In all honesty, I just gotta say, the doubters at the time were obviously wrong too. I'm glad you all came aboard But seriously, anyone who looked at the advanced stats back in the day was PUMPED when we got him. I will never forget when I found out. I thought he was a top 15 player in OKC, and was SHOCKED when we pulled off this robbery. Make those doubters eat crow, they deserve it!
Harden was the 3rd overall pick in his draft. You know who else was a 3rd overall pick in their respective draft? Michael Jordan... the similarities are uncanny almost.
stop with the excuses already, you will never win mvp that way actually i agree 100% with you but perhaps cf is nudging you into becoming a true nba geek...
Geez I was way off. Harden got 200m over 5 years. Absolutely no way the rockets don’t give him atleast one more max contract. Maybe only 3 years but still he’ll be getting 40m annually from the rockets for the next 8 years.
