Are you a criminal? What constitutes being a criminal? The problem with your thread is that you don't know anything about guns, gun laws, crime stats, and where/how people get guns. You post a lot about things you don't know anything about.

That's not "true communism" so it doesn't count as a failure of communism.

Either that or "There's capitalism nearby that caused communism to fail, eliminate the nearby capitalism and the communism would have worked"

One thing Clinton did was put more police on the street..

That being said he was dealing with violence from the crack epidemic. So really they can just show more concern and stop talking past the other side.

I don't believe crime is that bad nationally. Chicago is bad. That being said we obviously have abnormally high violent crime for an industrialized nation. They could start by acknowledging that

And Chicago has the 4th highest police per capita of big cities.

Even that is not really that much of a problem in the country as a whole, the majority of violent crime numbers is due to just a few incredibly violent large cities that unfortunately have been controlled by Democrats for too long. Garbage like Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, and St Louis along with a few others push the numbers up for the entire country. A fun stat is that 51% of murders in the entire country come from just 2% of the counties in the country and 90% of the murders come from just 8% of counties in the country.

    Clinton putting more

So nothing should be done about Chicago?

I didn't start this thread to argue about police per capita in Chicago. I just answered your question off the top of my head

Edit: and my overall point is they should start by addressing the subject

    Exactly

Unfortunately these mass shootings are anomalies that really don't address the more every day gun violence

    @bobrek

    Since you're into numbers

Do you think more people died in mass shootings or Chicago muders in the past 365 days

With all due respect, pgabriel, your "tone deaf" comment about Democrats is pure BS. We are as concerned about crime as anyone else in this country. Getting rid of AR-15's and their like, except for licensed collectors (which is what I would like to see happen), would have a negligible impact on criminal activity. Far more extensive background checks, a waiting period to purchase any firearms, not being able to purchase assault rifles, a limit on the quantity of ammunition people are allowed to purchase within a reasonable amount of time, and not being able to purchase large clips in any quantity could have an impact on mass shootings, as well as crimes of passion with the waiting period, which is how most murders occur. It wouldn't stop me, a Democrat, from possessing my firearms.

I seriously get tired of this "But Democrats want to..." crap when it comes to guns. When I go to a gun range I'm like everyone else. We don't ask what political party someone belongs to. We're just having fun doing something we enjoy.

Not sure where you’re going with this because I think EVERYONE is in favor of reducing all crime. Clearly more people are killed in ‘everyday’ crime than in the mass murders.

Again, what steps can be taken to solve everyday crime? Can’t reasonable gun laws help at all?

Clearly solving gang problems, poverty, education system, etc. are subjects worth tackling, as well as reasonable gun laws.

And what does that have to do with political parties? Nothing.

Actually there is a clear divide on fixing broken homes.

Democrats think they can be fixed by government

    Republicans don't believe that

    This tired tactic?

Do you live in Chicago? Are you familiar with the history of the city and the culture?

Just because Chicago has strong gun laws (less strict than they once were) means little when the guns are brought in from bordering areas where guns are easy to access.

Also Chicago is one of the most segregated and racist cities in America with long term inequality issues that haven’t been addressed in over 100 years.

With all due respect, bull****. I disagree that, "Democrats think they (broken homes) can be fixed by government," but putting aside that tired argument, please tell us what Republicans would do to "fix broken homes." I would like to hear your take on the Republican "solution." I'm not sure what that has to do with "gun control," but go ahead. Explain the Republican "fix" for me.
