Artist's rendition? How about she test that out with 30 random people first? Or stick with just singing it normal like the million other times it was sung?
O really? I didnt realize there were random "ohs" and "ooOOWOOOOs" in there... And i thought it was "banner yet wave", not "banerr-o-ye-het wave"
some of y’all need to stop playing, Fergie’s rendition was HORRIBLE it’s not Carl Lewis bad, but damn
Fergie’s career had to die so others who come after her can know to stop doing all this extra sh*t when singing the anthem What’s sad is that people were probably telling her that she was killing it when she sang those struggle notes during rehearsals.
Washington Post article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...nthem-rank-right-near-the-worst-of-the-worst/ Where does Fergie’s national anthem rank? Right near the worst of the worst. By Cindy Boren February 20 at 12:58 PM Allow us, for a moment, to salute the national anthem. It’s a difficult song musically, but one with obvious importance and considerable emotional heft. A great performance can hush a crowd, prompt joyful smiles, command attention, create a moment. And those performances are typically straightforward and direct. For some reason, though, far too many celebrities and pop stars feel compelled to give the anthem some distinctive flair, when all it really cries out for is simplicity. (Listen to D.C. Washington, a great Washingtonian, for an example of how to do this correctly.) The anthem should be solemn (but not too solemn, at least at a sporting event). It should be heartfelt. And when the singer reaches “the home of the brave,” people should definitely not be laughing. Oh, hey, Fergie. We’re looking at you. more at the link, including copies of tweets and video
Still think its a conspiracy theory to stay relevant, Josh Duhamel in those Taco Bell commercials and now this?
I don't mind putting the anthem in different styles/genres. But Fergie's was just musically bad. There's no way around it. It's not Carl Lewis bad, but very bad. At least Carl Lewis can say he's not a singer. What's Fergie's excuse? When I first heard it, I thought she was being disrespectful like Roseanne did. But now I realized that it was simply bad music.
I think it's wrong to play around with your own anthem in such an over-the-top fashion even if it was sung beautifully. It's not about your artistic ambitions (when it's done infront of your country) it's about your culture and history. Have a bit of respect!
