These mass shootings need to be politicized because there is one group that always says "Let's wait before politicizing this" and takes the same intractable position regardless of who dies, whether it be concert-goers or first graders. That very posturing itself is a political action because its purpose is to stymie action.

Not that any of this matters. When we allowed over 20 first graders to be murdered in cold blood, I knew we were too far gone. The same tired arguments about effectiveness and mental health (instead of legislating firearms in any way) will be trotted out with full knowledge that none of those things will ever actually come to pass. The song and dance will continue because, for a minority of the population, trying anything to curb gun violence is an affront to freedom and that is worse than the pile of dead bodies we accumulate in this country every year.

I keep thinking of the Right who voted to not restrict gun sales to those with mental health issues.

While they are doing that type of crap there is no room to blame the left for anything.

In fact, it is laughable to say the left isn't doing anything about mental health. The Right controls all three branches of govt. and can take action on mental health issues right now if they wished.

Pray that mental health gets better.

Give more tax breaks to the wealthy so when it trickles down folks can afford mental health treatment.

That would be a funny joke if it wasn’t truly their talking point.

After Vegas I remember Trump literally said that because of the economy and the stock market people would be happier and these issues would be less common which is complete and utter nonsense.

The solution is simple, have armed security guards in every school, kingerdarden, daycare etc & armed teachers in every class room. It's probably a good idea to pass a law that require every restaurant and every individual screen within a movie theater etc to have armed security as well. Also since it's borderline negligent to have less firepower than the bad guys, the security guard & teachers will have to carry rifles instead of pistols.
