I used to catch government cheese, cereal boxes, oatmeal boxes, juice tins, etc... out of the back of a truck at our local community center when I was about 9-10 years old once a month.

Back on topic, I'm sure it will be amazing. Anytime the government creates a new program, it's cheap, efficient, and works flawlessly. Can't wait!

That's funny, was just talking about how great the market-based approach in SNAP is and wondering if a similar approach could be used for utility assistance to drive efficiency. Now the Republican president wants to move away from market forces?

I no longer trust anything the media says. They continue to lie and mislead people about the numbers. They lied so much when it came to the tax cuts.

The thing about this government food delivery thing is that the argument behind it applies much more to universal health care. The market for food is doing just fine compared to the market for health insurance-- we don't have sky-rocketing food prices, for one thing. So if the government is gonna do something because it can do so more efficiently than the private market, it should get into the universal health care business rather than the food business, no?

The market for food is much more open than the market for healthcare creating competition hence the lower prices. Perhaps we could open up the market for healthcare to make the prices go down?

On the other hand, if universal healthcare is the answer, why not just let the government take over food too if they are so efficient? Heck why not let them take over private industry too while we are at it? Heck let the highly efficient government control EVERYTHING. I am sure that will make the world a better place.o_O

They buy crap that leads to obesity which leads to more money issues as they age. Do you think the system is fine as it is or just dislike a potential change 'cuz trump?

Has anyone done any studies or data collection that show what people are actually buying?

I actually would be a in favor of some type of restrictions on sugary drinks on the SNAP program. Sugary drinks really are a plight to our nation's overall health and fitness.

I'm just no where near qualified enough to find a tangible fair way to implement that policy.
