Poor Carter Page. He should be able to confidentially speak to Russian foreign agents loyal to Putin in peace and subsequently be involved in an American national election. What a victim.

I'm still waiting for a conservative leaning poster on this site to find a way to discredit the competence, work history and level of professionalism that both Fusion GPS and Steele poses.

Considering diversity to you means buying the variety pack of popsicles, I don't think you have a leg to stand on here.

You know those years pretending to be a right-winger actually did move me to the right a bit. I truly think what you say - whether you believe it or not, begins to become the truth.

Give people a lie to believe what they want to believe and as they will lick it up faster than a thirsty dog.

I think it's human nature, for any person (whatever their politics, though some are clearly more prone than others).

We are a species of stories, but we are not designed for the current maelstrom of voices and information. I think studies have shown (and common sense underlines) that conservatives are at least slightly more distrusting of strangers than liberals. Whether or not that's a good thing, and it sure can be, it means it's easier for them to accept whole information outlets as untrustworthy (e.g. all media that every tells them something their team/tribe doesn't like).

I suspect that it's not that conservatives are more distrusting of strangers, it's that those more distrusting of strangers tend to be conservative.

There's a reason why conservatives are in rural areas, when they deal less with strangers and ideas - where they are exposed to less diversity. And there is a reason why colleges which are more likely to be bastions of diversity tend to be liberal.

No no no. You see, someone can do excellent work. They can have decades of great reputation. But if there is any hint that they do not like 45? Or feared his presidency? (i.e. If they are of sound mind) Just call their work meaningless.

#1 The United States has spied on it's own people since day 1. Further, there is protocol and legal standards before anyone is "spied on".

#2 They didn't use "illegal courts".

#3 Yeah there has been an erosion of rights, especially since the passage of the Patriot Act and it's progeny. Then again there were a lot of scholars and others that warned against exactly what has happened. It is funny that Trump NOW has an issue with the NSA etc. In December of 2015 Donald Trump stated that he supported the restoration of the Patriot Act and stated that he expects his phone to tapped and errs on the side of security.

#1 ah didn't know it was from day one, that makes it all okay. Carry on.
#2 Everything about FISA should be illegal if you are a real American.
#3 It's not funny or surprising at all to me that Bush, Obama, and Trump have the same exact positions when it comes to Patriot Act, NSA, FISA, etc... And since when do you know any politician want the law applied to them?! They love laws for the plebs so long as they don't apply to them.

#1 Learn context and learn how to read. You have shown a real inability to understand someone else's position. You completely left off the whole protocol because it does not fit your narrative.

#2 It is obvious that you do not understand what FISA is, the history of it and it's purpose.

#3 Yes, everyone doesn't have a problem with a perceived invasion of privacy until it involves them.

for the educational of ignorant fools such as you

some recent egs that underscore the effectiveness of FISA, helping the US Govt catch criminals/ spies

the US Govt catching these criminals/spies in the act
    • Mobsters (such as John Gotti) ,
    • US citizens spying for Russia (Robert Hansson)
    • inside-trading violators (Martha Stewart and the partner of an international CPA firm who had audited Herbalife, etc)
in 2013, the FISA law enabled the FBI inflitrated a Russian spy ring---recruiting US citizens to spy for Putin---in NYC. one of the Russian masterminds was arrested, the other two, working out of the Russian embassy in US, fled. The FBI had recording of
these 3 Russian spy-recruiters discussing about their meetings w a recruiting target, Carter Page.

It is probable that the FBI had a FISA warrant on Carter Page then; and in late-2016, when the Steele dossier was describing some of the new interactions between Page and the Putin orbit, the FBI renewed the FISA warrant on him.

If data mining continues at its current trajectory we will soon have a book with the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the majority of US citizens. The book will likely be brightly colored and distributed for free allowing hackers to have easy access to your information. Prepare yourselfs soon black hats will be knocking on your door without texting first - the end is near.
