It also comes down to comfortable playing with Harden and CP3, or playing with GSW. I believe JJ coming to Houston attributes to Harden who made CP3 better, the whole team better. And the camaraderie the Rockets have are 1 happy family.
and he can hit that sweet midrange and we know we will need it eventually and it was a key to this season being sucessfull
Bingo. Transition game is much harder to come by in the playoffs, and so the ability to ISO is much more important. Part of our ability to beat Golden State was switching Curry onto Harden and getting torched. Johnson fits as both spot up shooter, and a guy who will punish switches. He's not an all-star anymore, but put him on the court with Harden and/or Paul and he becomes a handful.
Having 4 guys who can iso in playoffs is insane. Cavs only had 2 guys last season. GSW have 3. JJ reminds me of a slower less physical Harden. Old man game and patience.
Yes, this is why it would have been so great to have Melo on this team for the playoffs. This helps us have someone else to get an iso shot in the playoffs. Very excited about our chances against the Spurs and Warriors in the playoffs as long as we can stay healthy.
Ain't that the truth! We'll take these "problems." Certainly better than a 2 man bench and a 2-way guy when there are injuries and such.
Yeah, for all of you people that love the VARIETY that Chris Paul brings to the team with that "mid range shot" (and I am with you guys) you have to love that JJ has that mid range post game. He can of course hit 3's, but he has some diversity. So, the Rockets have a few curve balls they can throw in the playoffs if teams stay close to the 3pt shooters and sag back into the lane.
Various Twitter sources were acting like they expected it by the end of today. As of yesterday afternoon we are waiting on the original teams to complete the buy-out process, and for these guys to officially clear the waiver period without being claimed.

Joe would be our best traditional post up scorer. He backs down Gallo and James Johnson(!!). He is also a good spot up shooter and decent at creating his own offense in the midrange.
