He's saying this to save face and make it OK to leave Cleveland when management blows it up and forces him out in the offseason.

He's going to look like the good guy when he "goes down with the ship" and Gilbert will take all the blame.

Not to mention why would he want to force a trade when that'll just deplete the assets of his new team? If he waits until the offseason his trade value dies since everyone will know he's leaving.

On the flip side this will make a LeBron to Houston move even harder, since everyone will be attempting to stop us (the league already sees GSW as a unfair stacked team, why would they make it easy for us?) and Ryno will be even more difficult to trade (this is why trading Ryno for more movable assets to CRITICAL)

In my opinion we won't get LeBron if we have Ryno on this roster at the end of the season.

by long haul he meant the end of the season. Then the King assesses his options.

... unless CP3 and Daryl Morey comes to me and convinces me otherwise]

Both Dan Gilbert and Lebron are idiots for wasting a season accomplishing nothing because of their pettiness towards each other.

Gilbert doesn't give a **** about Lebron because he knows Lebron is not committed to staying so he refuses to trade the Nets pick. Lebron wants to make Gilbert look like the bad guy so he wants to play out the season.

Not going to lie, I like rooting against Lebron and GSW. If he became a Rocket great, but it is a lot more fun cheering to beat him.

lol this quote is really funny. When ppl say long haul they usually mean more than the next 4 months? :D

Possibly Gilbert is trying to get back smth for him now and he's saying nonono I will leave you with nothing but burned earth.

If Rockets don’t acquire Lebron, then what is plan B, C and D? Paul George is a wet dream IMO. It’s nice distraction but it’s messy and not nearly as satisfying as the real thing.

Even without the clarification I took his statement as meaning this season.

Nope. I would not. I want more years of prime Harden. LeBron is showing me a side that I just don’t like.

I’m loving the team that Morey built and I want to see that through.

Give me Anthony Davis and Kemba/good pick for Harden though. Just a fantasy scenario.

It's not outside the realm of possibility. The Cavs despite still holding the 3rd seed are only 4 games up on the Pistons who are the 9th seed. Detroit has won 4 in a row, so the Blake Griffin trade is a success so far. And you look at the teams seeded 4-8 in the East(Wizards, Bucks, Pacers, Heat, Sixers) and there's no reason barring injury that any of them can't continue to play well enough to remain in the playoff picture. Washington has shown it can win without Wall, so there's no real concern there.

So if the Cavs don't make some sort of major trade, you figure the chemistry will continue to remain toxic and possibly get even worse once these guys all know they're stuck together for another couple months. Factor in Love missing another 5-7 weeks and yes it is entirely possible the Cavs slip to the 9th seed and miss the postseason. And even if they don't, they could still easily fall to 7th or 8th which would leave them without homecourt and facing a brutal path back to the Finals.

I can envision myself a crusty old man in a dark, forgotten corner of a nursing home, shouting at the nurses walking by that we never should have traded Harden back in the day and that the entire city of Houston has been cursed for decades because of it.
