While many are saying (puishing the narratiuve) that LeBron should go to San An
to be with the BEST COACH . . . . I think LeBron is looking to the best GM

All his complaints in Cleveland won't be issue here

    "I NEED A _____" - LeBron
    "Say no more Fam . .. I got ya . . " - Morey
    [IMG]

People think we will raid our bench but not as much as one would think

I know we thought we gave up too much for CP3
but in the end . .. all the players were replacable.

Trade LeBron to Houston or work out some arrangement with the owner to sell 51% of the team to LeBron/Lebron-led group if he re-signs.

They are #3 in the East, but only two games ahead of the 7th seed. And I think we could see them fall all the way back to the 7th seed or so if they don't find a way to improve the way they're playing.

I don't think trading LeBron is completely out of the question, but I do think he'd have to demand the trade. And I don't see him doing that. He really hurt his image when he left Cleveland the first time. I think everyone will expect him to leave with this team falling apart the way it is, but if he demanded a trade out of his hometown again? Oh man. He'd never be able to show his face in Ohio again.

If I could get the clippers to agree to a Love/DJ deal with DJ opting in to the 18-19 season and I could trade the pick, IT, and other salary for Kemba, and I could move TT for Anderson or some other great shooting 4 ......

I'd appriach Lebron with all the proposed moves and ask him if he liked them? If he said yes, I'd tell him I'm ready to execute all the moves if He opts in to 2018-19 season. If he agrees I make the trades. If he doesn't agree I them tell him it's probably time to move on, and I'll trade him to the team he chooses right now if I can get the right deal. If he's dead set on leaving he's gonna tell me and I may get a deal done (probably not) or I might negotiate it to be executed after the season. I then do whatever I think is best in acquisitions to increase asset value and future roster flexibility while attempting to make a run this season without giving up the Nets pick, and without consideration of what he thinks or wants.

Perchance we catch lightning in a bottle and win and he has a change of heart. But if not I'm still ready and have a leg up on a rebuild.

Also, if Dan Gilbert thinks he can get a “Sign-n-Trade” when LeBron leaves in free agency this summer
like he did when LeBron left him before (to Miami). He is probably mistaken.

I’m guessing LeBron wants another 2-yr deal with player option on the 2nd yr. No need for a SnT.
The only reason LeBron would want a SnT would be for a long term contract. Rockets can sign
LeBron without having to compensate the Cavs with players or picks.

Get something now or forever hold your peace.

The question is: what teams would Lebron waive his no trade clause for? Right now, if his choices for next season really are Houston and LA, then you'd have to start there. Can't see Lebron willingly taking himself out of the playoffs this year by going to LA, and can't see CLE taking our bad contracts, vets, or crappy draft picks.

Why does CLE keep him and risk losing him for nothing? Because two or three rounds of Playoff revenue is better than ryno, tarik black, and whatever other junk you're proposing. If he's on your team, you got a shot. Better chemistry with IT, a trade for Jordan or Williams, and they got a puncher's chance.

Only way CLE would entertain trading the best player of his generation is for young talent and high picks. Teams with those won't give them up for an LBJ rental and he probably wouldn't wave his NTC to go to those teams anyway.

1st- I would bait the owner into giving me a 5yr extension way above my worth.
2nd- Let LBj deicide and go from there...
Trade for assets or gut this turrible squad.

Only way he comes before Feb 8 deadline is if Cleveland does him a solid & allows him to be traded here for Anderson, Tucker, fillers & picks. I also think thats why Morey is waiting on Joe Johnson, Bogut, & possibly Lopez. Because we might have to gut our team deph to trade for Lebron.

It just blows my mind, I posted a thread like this 8 months ago and was destroyed by CF. Yet now threads like this are okay. Lol

Hop in a time machine and choose Kyrie instead of lebron. You knew lebron was gone after his year...or at least suspected it. He has quit on you before. Kyrie is a lot younger. They just couldn't make the tough decision. Now in reality without any time machines...they just gotta wait HIM out and start the rebuild without his BS GM skills. Time to shut him out like he has them.

What a cluster. I'm wondering what do Cleveland fans want the GM to do?

Right now everyone in Cleveland seems miserable. The players, the coaches, the fans.

An amicable divorce appears to be the best option for everyone involved. LeBron came back to Cleveland and won a championship for the fans and the city, so be happy with that and move forward in a way the benefits everyone.

I'm not sure what LeBron could bring back in a trade, but the Cavs need to try to find out.

You don't trade LeBron under any circumstance. You let him walk, if that's what he chooses. We've all watched this man lift his team to the finals time and time again. The Cavs are awful right now, but they're still 3rd in the standings.

I still see them coming out of the east when it's over.

The thing that is so weird about all of this is that everywhere lebron goes he just ultimately tears it down bc the team he is on is never allowed to build the right way. He has never "built" a contender...he just always kind of "throws" one together with buddies. The smartest move a lebron run team has ever made was acquiring Kevin love. That was a good and obvious basketball decision. But even that has deteriorated as they don't allow him to do all he is good at.

Bingo Cod. The only 2 situations you trade Lebron is when he is a free agent and clearly tells you he is signing elsewhere (S&T for matching and getting any asset you can)or he demands a trade this deadline (unlikely).

With lebron not willing to commit, You put together some moves for a push this season without sacrificing flexibility moving forward so your giving a good faith effort while also thinking for the future and playing the publicity game as well

Most realistic moves to make a push this season will require a 1st round pick most likely.

Question is, can you swing a deal for DeAndre or Kemba without requiring a first? You would have to take on bad deals most likely

Potentially the 2019 second round pick could be viewed as a decent asset since most GMs think Lebron will be gone and Cleveland will be tanking. ?? Prob not good enough though

No way I trade lebron. Ever.

I would trade the Brooklyn pick and try to get another star to pair with him to hopefully convince him to stay.

If he walks, so be it but not for effort of trying to resign him.

I’d call LAC and try to get Lou, DJ and Tobias while dumping a Tristan and JR and see if they bite.

Clears the books for future flexibility if lebron does walk this offseason. allowing you to trade love for future assets in the summer.

It’s also a significantly stronger roster to make a serious run this year and could convince lebron to stay.

I know what I won't do as Rocket GM. Will not gut this team for LeBron because it would make absolutely no sense but if he wants to come to the Rockets,I will be glad to add him but keep EG, Trev, CC, PJ Tucks, Luc. If the salary doesn't work, then tough luck. We cannot revert to mediocrity just sign LBJ. It's not easy to find a good supporting cast that's willing to play the to the teeth. Cav is finding that out right now. Golden State is anomaly and unless we can win it all with just the Beard, CP3, and LBJ there is no way I will up all these guys just to add LBJ.

Honestly, I'd talk to LeBron. The best player in the world is on your team, so you need to do everything in your power to keep him.

Detractors will say "well, the Bulls never needed to consult MJ" or "Well, that's just giving too much power to LeBron. CLE's FO are a bunch of wusses if they cater to LeBron."

All that is crap. You need to do everything you can to keep LeBron on your damn team. Figure out who LeBron likes. Figure out a way to get some/all of those players on the team. Trade away IT while he has worth (clearly, he's not fitting in with the team, injury or not). Trade the BKN pick for a good up-and-coming player. If Cleveland comes out as losers after the trade deadline (because of the deals, or lackthereof, that they made) then LeBron is as good as gone.

He spent his first 7 years toiling on a crappy Cleveland team because that team couldn't build around the best player in the league. The timeline for winning a title is sped up due to GSW's dominance.

We tried throwing Harden and Dwight together, and now we're throwing Harden and CP3 together. OKC put Westbrook/PG/Melo into a team. Boston put Kyrie/Hayward/Horford into a team.

It's not that teams and players don't want to build something organically. It's that GSW is forcing other teams to adapt. Either build a superteam or wait until our dominance is over.

Well, you can't trade LeBron when he's a free agent. And obviously, LeBron isn't going to let anyone know of his plans to do anything, UNTIL he's no longer contractually obligated to a team.

Besides Kyrie and I guess Paul George, I can't remember the last time a really good player publicly decried that he wanted out of his current team.

I don't know why anyone would even think DeAndre Jordan is the answer to the Cavaliers' woes?

As made abundantly clear this season, Jordan can't create his own shot and that's why he's desperate to get back with Chris Paul again. LeBron needs another scorer and playmaker on the team. He's not going to go around feeding DJ like a soup kitchen.

That's why Paul came to Houston to be paired up with another playmaker and self-sufficient scorer in Harden. Also, why Kyrie Irving was a crucial piece in Cleveland because he could create his own shot without involving LeBron, which took away a lot of pressure on offense. Isaiah Thomas was suppose to be that guy, but his injury has derailed his offensive production and efficiency.

Sadly, there is no quick fix to the Cavaliers' woes besides completely gutting the team -- something LeBron won't be around to witness.

The Cavs offense despite last nights game is fine. Their big problem is lack of any effort on defense, loose balls, rebounds etc.
