Exactly how I feel. He's giving us what we lost when we trad d Beverley away. I always said Beverley was the heart and soul of the team and now green is for fulfilling that role.
He was a +1 yesterday. That surprised me. Didn't meet the eye test. Some player consistently get a low or negative +/-.... it's a bit concerning.
If Green could provide weakside defense similar to what he did against the Cavs than this team is evolving as a true threat to GSW. Those defensive erasers can swing a game.
This just shows how tough a coach’s job is. Look at how minutes we’re distributed in the first half last night, now try to incorporate EG and Ariza on top of that or in place of someone. Problem is you can’t just decrease 10 minutes out of the rotation and give it to Green. Players need to get in rhythm, their play is affected if they know they have such a limited time to perform.
Green is indeed improving but also gets lost a lot. I understand if he doesn’t get 15-20 minutes but he’s solid for 10-15 in my opinion! Those 3 blocks were sure to go in so was very good for our energy and the score.
Harden gets lost on switches too, unfortunately. Green should play more, there no other way to put it. When we’re have segments where we struggle for offense, he should play. Nick Young plays in GS, he’s the same type of chucker, who can get hot and help a team.
It could also be that Trevor Aria is an incredibly versatile, high value role player who would get minutes on any team in the league but who is particularly valuable for the Rockets, for whom he's having his best season since joining.
Someone has probably already said this - but Green is good at the visible aspects of defense due to his leaping ability. People remember the box score stats of steals and blocks. The more subtle things like switching correctly, funneling a man to the correct place, and foul rate are much harder for us fans to notice. I'm all in favor of Green being in the rotation. I'm just saying that don't trust a fan discussion of Ariza vs Green, for example.
GG was an extraordinary find by DM at this stage of the season. He's not only brought athleticism and an additional 3-pt shooter to the team, but a true Houston Native who bleeds our teams and our town. Those three blocks were amazing, but in two of the three he had been beaten by the player and recovered. GG will never be a great defensive player, but he is certainly serviceable and his ability to recover and block shots adds a new dimension to our wing defenders. I do think MDA needs to find him 10-15 mins when everyone is healthy--especially on those nights that Gordon, Ariza, Ryno, etc. are off. I do enjoy watching GG play and his unbridled enthusiasm as well.
Right now this sets apart kerr pops stevens to mda. mda doesn't have iq or capability to manage the substitutions and minutes of more than 9 players per game.
she’s wrong or off-base about pretty much everything she thinks OKC is better than us and would’ve given up Ego and Ariza for Melo
Regardless of where this eventually leads, it's been great to see the hometown kid recognize what a special opportunity this is, grab it with both hands, and bust his ass to turn it into something special.
