In my opinion, my personal favorite is currently Max's Wine Dive's Fried Egg Sandwich.
Second favorite is California Dreamin' at Spec's Deli in Midtown.

Keep hearing about this place. I work downtown but would probably need to take the Metro Rail to get their since my office is on the other side.

    What do you recommend?

I usually get the crunchy chicken; pretzel bun with baked in freshly made chips and a slice of provolone. Same chips are to die for if they're seasoned just right. You can pick 2 sides which change with the season but those chips and kale are usually always on the menu.

    Here is the DT menu.

Same here. I went to max’s Wine in midtown last November. The food was amazing. It was a little pricey but the food is so good that you don’t even care about the price. I wanted to order more but one time for that price is enough.

Mandola’s Italian Deli, near U of H. Trust me Jimbo, you’d love it. I’ve been going there my whole life. If you’re ever near downtown for lunch let me know and I can meet you there.

Les Givral Midtowns's # 12 - beef banh mi with a fried egg, with a small bowl of Pho soup broth on the side for dipping, and a coffee with condensed milk.

This is the truth. Cali Has an insanely good Banh Mi. Get it not toasted. They put so much meat in there. My goodness.

Back when I was doing my undergrad there was a period I was eating there like 4-5 times a week.

Also, their cubed beef dish (it’s #1 on the rice dish part of their menu I think) is one of the best.

I forgot the Vietnamese name for it though. Haven’t been there in some time.

Schlotzsky's....but only in Sugar Land! That one is day and night compared to all the other ones in Houston. Downside is that it's pricey.

When you said cubed beef #1 I knew what you were talking about. Sooo good.
