What would you do with LeBron if you were the GM of the Cavs...

I would trade LeBron right now (asking to waive his no trade clause to specific teams) and get what I can get...This is of course after LeBron requests to be traded or let's the Cavs know that he will leave by the end of the year. Unfortunately, for the Cavs, that means probably the Rockets. Thus, unloading Ryan Anderson, Tariq Black, PJ, and a draft pick...

I know this is far fetched but a possibility of some sort of trade.

I wouldn’t trade him to the Rockets. You’d have to blow me away with assets to even think about it enough to allow the news to float back LBJ’s camp.

The guy is a hero for the city of Cleveland and you want him as part of the organization like Hakeem is to Houston when his career is over. If I’m Cleveland’s GM, I do right by Lebron and let him decide when his time is up in Cleveland. If he wants to go now and give up on this season, he’ll let you know.

If hypothetically he says he wants out now and there are other teams on that list I likely think their package would be better than in any way having to account for Ryan Anderson’s contract.

No way I trade him, the value you will get for him will be garbage.

Trading him to the Rockets for the 30th pick does what exactly?

Your best bet is to try and get Deandre Jordan or something, build your team. Unload IT maybe, trade Tristan Thompson while he has some value.

Try to show Lebron that you are willing to make moves appease him since once he is gone you are rebuilding any way.

For me this means even trading the 1st rounder if it gets you a star player.

Lebron is gone. Start early for the rebuild. Send IT and Frye in a trade anc see whag you can get. Deandre trade could patch things up but he is no ben wallace.

Lebron is tired. He is getting older. He carried the Cavs for a large portion of the season. Now Love is out and the walls are really crumbling.

I don't think you really have the option of trading him. Unless he just flat out said trade me now if you want I am leaving regardless.

Most likely they are going to get humbled many more times this season.

I would hit the reset button armed with the Brooklyn pick.

Trade off pieces for other assets and embark on a Boston like rebuild.

Trading LeBron is completely out of the question. The Cavs are still #3 in the EC. I would try to improve the team by trade because a Finals run is still possible. The earlier trade deadline does not work in their favor.

If their record was 21-30 instead of 30-21 (which would have them at #12), perhaps everything should be on the table.

Considering Jim Boylan and Larry Drew are the alternatives, I understand why they haven't fired Ty Lue. I would give him the 5 games until the ASB before making a final decision.

Another thing against them is the old roster. Giving more minutes to guys like Calderon, Shumpert, Frye, Rose definitely isn't the answer. Kevin Love is certainly not a good defender, but losing his production just about kills any chance for a quick turn around.

Bottom line: Considering the franchise will go into the garbage can after LeBron leaves whether they "mortgage the future" or not, Cavs should put all their eggs into this season and hope a miracle happens. They cannot avoid the abyss.

I would just trade and try to get some sort of defensive presence in the paint. That alone gives them a pretty nice shot at a finals birth. Who knows the next time the franchise will have a shot at the finals.. I mean we've been waiting 20+ years now and our front office has been pretty good.

    • Start with firing the current GM and do whatever it takes to bring back David Griffin
    • Get rid of Isaiah Thomas, Crowder, JR Smith, and D Rose. All are completely worthless for this team.
    • Trade for Deandre and Lou Williams. May not be enough to compete for a title but it’ll at least put a better product on the court.

What would you do if you were a Clutchfans poster starting a thread about the Cavs' future?

I would post it in the Dish

    1. Hope that Lebron leaves this summer.
    2. Hold on to that Brooklyn pick like your life depended on it
    3. Pray for a top 5 pick
    4. Draft Ayton, Porter Jr, Doncic, Young, or Bagley
    5. Tank for more lottery picks

I agree, but you are 3rd and falling, with no basement in sight. James is not interested. I'll give that comment a right now, but it may be done-in-CLE not interested.

You definitely need to get his plans if you can. If he is out the door, trade for what you can to rebuild/retool. Use the rest of the year to figure out who you are with out him. and still might could make the playoffs this year

    1) do not PANIC, your in the East you'll make the playoffs
    2) assume LBJ is gone so probably rebuild with around Thomas
    3) if you can swing a trade for Deandre or Williams do it
    4) I think with those 3 or 4 you have a decent team in the East (Thomas, Love, Deandre/Williams)
    5) new coach
    6) keep looking at players that can help for the short-term that are available

Hold on to him. They are still probably getting to the finals. Lebron might be leaving but the Cavs were terrible before they got him and will be terrible after him.

Even though i feel like they won't, i think they should trade not only Lebron, but also Love and Thomas (if they can get something decent from him which i'm not sure tbh) if they're not willing to part with the Nets pick since it's the only way for them to make a major improvement. Even though, watching them last night...i don't even think it's just a matter of quality, looks like they're done as a team, like we were done two years ago. I doubt Lue is the problem right now.

Only reason LeBron is in Cleveland the remainder of the season is to get one last shot at the Warriors (NBA finals)
With the current roster that’s not happening. Chances are they will be eliminated quickly in the Eastern
    Conference playoffs.

The contracts of Tristan, JR Smith, Shumpert are too outrageous.

Crowder doesn’t bring you back enough.

I Thomas has no lift and is easily blocked below the rim. Looks like a kid out there.

Love is not much better than Ryan Anderson.....people say Love is worthy of a 1st round pick in return
while Houston has to give up 2 or 3 first round picks. Trade Love then if some team will take him injured.

Time to break it up. They look old, slow, low energy, missed assignments, no communication, want to be
traded rag tag group. GM should ask LeBron one more time......will you commit to next season?
If not trade LeBron to where he wants to go....waive the “NTC.”

I would blow it up and move everyone for picks. New potential owner will have prospects for potentially a
brighter future instead of being handcuffed to a sinking titanic in the middle of the ocean.

If I were Cleveland I’d go get Marcus smart for a 1st ( not the Brooklyn pick)
Trade Isaiah for either kemba of Lou straight up
Go get a big an athletic big

I wouldn't trade Lebron because you can't get real value for him right now.

The Rockets can't offer anything of value until after the draft when they can give up first round picks again. Just like the Knicks last year there's no way the Cavs are going to trade for Ryno and guys like Tarik Black they have no use for. It's literally NOTHING of value for the Cavs that could be traded by the Rockets.

However, if I'm the Cavs I would trade Isaiah Thomas. He's not fitting and they can't make that work imo. I'd try to get a first round pick and something of value for him. They should also see if they could move some of those contracts that are going to hurt them in future years.
