Guess it means the Rockets might be willing to entertain a long term contract if it can be moved easily. That’s code for “easier than Ryan’s contract”
Exactly! Would rather trade a first, Onuaku/Troy Williams, rights to Llull and PJ for Aaron Gordon and Mo Speights. Then another smaller trade - Black, rights to Gentile, two 2nds for Nerlens Noel. Keep Ryno to come off the bench this season and use as core piece for S&T should LeBron force his way to Houston in off season. Harden/Green Paul/EGo Ariza/Luc AG/Ryno Capela/Nene/Speights Nerlens if acquired is Nene insurance for postseason. Capela insurance for off season.
I never said they won't trade him, I just think they would be morons to trade a 22 year old who's having a breakout season. I know one thing for sure though, no chance in hell they even entertain your proposal of a late first and trash for him.
I like your ideas @D-rock. I don’t believe LeBron wants to be involved in “Sign n Trade.” Not for a couple years anyway. LeBron m.o. now is 2-year deals with player option on 2nd year. I don’t believe saving Ryan Anderson for a SnT is necessary for matching salary purposes. But I do see Ryan maybe being traded after June 21st draft when the Rockets can offer more in the form of 1st round picks......more as a fall back plan. Rockets would then have a few days to trade Ryan before LeBron becomes a free agent on July 1st. IMHO. Hopefully it doesn’t come down to that, and Ryan is traded this week. Edited: I wouldn’t be surprised if CP3 signs the same type of 2-yr deal. Leaving him options in two years. Possibly not ready for a five year commitment with 5th year player option.
Wrong about what exactly? Wait you think your trash proposal of a late first rounder and scrubs is actually realistic?
Thanks for the update. Taking on long term contracts are fine. The GOAL is flexibility. If the contracts have decent VALUE, they can be moved. That is the important takeaway. So, if you have value players, they can be moved for LeBron.
You said AG was a foundational piece in Orlando and no way available for trade, and you were wrong. Problem is that you do not know enough about Orlando but still tried to make yourself out to be knowledgeable. You bring nothing to the dialog. Just admit you were talking out of your ace on a subject you have no clue about. Owning up to a mistake builds character. I also proposed trading for Noel last season and everyone insisted he was not worth a first. Dallas got him for two 2nds. I knew Philly was desperate to move him and he would have been a great back up and insurance policy for Clint. Rockets still have that option actually as Mavs have devalued that asset to next to nothing. Once upon a time Morey loved to collect young "failed" lottery picks. He needs to do the same now. Rockets are not that far away from GSW. Houston is a lot closer than a LeBron from winning it all.
Yup, i was also thinking that in a sign & trade scenario this summer, Ryan's contract alone wouldn't be close enough to get it done since Lebron optiong in would make his 2018/19 salary worth around 35M, and at that point we wouldn't have other guys to match it. But if we can turn now Anderson, Black (which helps a lot), Nanu etc...we should be able to get enough salary back, let's say around 25/28, which should be enough to get the job done this summer. This would probably put us in Luxury territory but eh...
And likely prevent Rockets from re-signing all our hustle wing defenders. PJ, Ariza, Luc, etc. cannot all be retained if adding LeBron. If it happens it will take all of Morey's financial creativity to fit Paul, LeBron and Client's new salaries around Harden.
LeBron is way more important than hustle wing defenders. If you can get LeBron you get him then worry about filling in the depth
In theory you are correct, LeBron is considered to be the best player in the league and his skill set fits our system and he would be a huge upgrade to Ryno. However, if Rockets win it all this season (not farfetched) acquiring LeBron will cost us more than our back up wings. Likely to lose EGo, maybe even Capela as well. Bringing in LeBron at all costs should not be the goal, goal should be signing LeBron and still retain talent. Is LeBron and Paul willing to sacrifice like Durant?
So you really believe every single rumor that comes out? I stated that it would make no sense (unless they're morons) to trade a 22 year old who's breaking out. You on the other hand think it's realistic to get a rising young player for a late first rounder and trash. No that's not going to happen, just a idiotic proposal.
You still do not understand. It is not a rumor. Magic have to decide if they are going to invest in AG or invest in Isaac (their recent 1st rounder). Both are natural 4's. Paying AG big money and then having to play one of their 2 best players out of position is recipe for disaster for a franchise that continues to go backwards. AG at PF has not resulted in wins even with his breakout season. Isaac is purported to be the next KD so keeping him at SF will hinder his development. Trading AG has been a foregone conclusion from the moment Orlando chose Jonathan Isaac and he showed immediately that he could ball. Magic will move AG if a team will also take one of their onerous contracts (Fournier, Biyombo, etc.). They want players and/or picks that will complement Isaac as well. Just because you do not understand the dynamics of a decision does not mean it does not exist. And the moron is the person who cannot envision a scenario because they choose to blind themselves to their personal agendas.
Not going to start a thread on it. But there's a good possibility we trade for Shelvin Mack next week. Deal has been discussed.
