The idea that an owner is buying a trophy is exactly the problem. That way of thinking is in line with Leslie’s.
Yeah exactly. He inherited that first one. Give it to the previous owner and indeed keep that 2nd one if you insist on taking them.
les can do what he wants. that's what happens when you're a team owner. we're getting a third trophy anyway.
At the end of the day the trophies are just figures. At first I felt mad about it but then I relaxed. The trophies are literally just an item to represent we won the league, two times. Whether they get crushed or auctioned, means nothing. We won period. The real trophy was in our hearts all along.
I feel nothing. In all the Rockets games I've been to, I've never really gave more than a passing glimpse to the championship trophies. This is one of those things where people will stop caring after a week.
Don't worry. Morey The Magician handed Les the trophies on his way out, and switched them with replicas
When a championship is won, that championship and the trophies that are awarded belong to everyone. The owner, the coaches, the players, the city, and the fans. The city builds the Arena, the fans buy the tickets, the players play the game. The owner plays an important role in building the organization, but everyone does their part in winning a championship. I think the right thing for the owner to do is to permanently keep the trophies on public display for all to enjoy.
Oh you meant he trophy that was made? What makes a new made trophy less of a trophy? Get two new ones made and move on.
I mean, sure he was the owner and all during that run and he can do whatever he wants. Fine. Doesn't mean its not a dick move though. Kind of disrespectful to the players who put in the hard work and the fans who poured their money and emotions into those years. Sometimes its just nice to stop and see those real trophies and reflect on the memories from both a players and fans perspective. Just isn't the same when you know they aren't the real ones. Its hollow.
