It's taken for granted that Darnell Murray is going to make a pitch to free agent LeBron this summer, and for cap reasons, it's also expected that will come in the form of a sign-and-trade, much like the Rockets did to acquire CP3. With the Cavs continuing to implode one week before the trade deadline, I imagine that Maori is already investigating whether or not there's some way to pull off that trade NOW (assuming there's an agreement that LBJ will re-sign this summer). This poll isn't about the mechanics of such a deal. It can definitely be done. Nor is it based on any rumor, because as far as I know, this possibility hasn't been mentioned at all. This is just about whether you think Dorell Moray is actively trying to put together such a trade before the deadline a week from now.
If morey can find 35 million in cap space without giving up any significant pieces besides ryno be my guest
I imagine he’s looking at 100 possibilities including this one. Problem is we have nearly nothing of value to a rebuilding team. You guys want a 110lb zhou qui?
Liked your post! FYI, I'm a sucker for multiple mispellings of Derail Morly!! ....... ....... .......
He’s probably holding out until the last minute to see if the Cavs cave. If Lebron is one of the “guys In that locker room that don’t believe they can get to the finals”, then you would think he would be open to this move. His NTC gives us a little leverage in the situation if he’d ONLY accept a trade to us. I just worry that we might miss other opportunities because of our infatuation with Bron (like we have in the past). Also I’m kind of hesitant because of his propensity to hold teams captive with his contracts. But I mean... it’s Bron right?
I'm sure Morey is always investigating a trade for LeBron, regardless of his presumed availability or lack thereof. He probably has half a dozen trade scenarios prebaked and ready to pitch at a moment's notice.
I'm sure he is looking for a way to land Lebron right now. Gordon has great value right now and I'm sure he'd even part with Capela for him. Lebron is a lot cheaper to land right now than in free agency. The only way to make room for Bron next year is to clear out contracts anyways so why not do it now.
I will say that its downright crazy to think that Cleveland would trade him early knowing damn well that team can turn it on at any point especially in the playoffs, and its a top 5 player of all time who is a hometown hero. That being said.... Every day that goes by seems to make this likelihood a LITTLE BIT less crazy with everything we see and hear coming from Cleveland Lebron's camp. Its still crazy, but not as crazy as it might have been three or four days ago. I'm sure Morey has called Cleveland, but he's smart enough not to even think about asking about Lebron because if he just came out and asked about him, he'd probably get hung up on, and get him number blocked.
The better question to ask is whether the Cavs are looking into their options. Do they jump start the rebuild now or do their wait and see how the season plays out. They have pieces that don't fit. They have a injured Kevin Love. They have a team that maybe wont even make it out the 2nd round of the playoffs. Do they start to sell of pieces now or do they wait. I dont think they believe Thomas is a piece to build around. He is a defensive liability, his shot is super off, and the pay check that he believes he is going to get is never going to be there. I think he and his camp are in for a very rude awakening when the market opts to give him maybe 75 cents or less on the dollar for this new contract. Having said that it is interesting to see if Cavs are entertaining this idea to blow it up and hit the reset button right now. Frankly, I think they are. They have to right? Safe bet says Lebron is a Rocket at the end of the year.
He's likely exploring anything and everything coming his way. It would be really stupid of the Cavs to trade LeBron now, even considering how badly they've been performing lately... they're still 3rd in the LEast. And if they were idiotic enough to trade him prior to the end of the season, they surely wouldn't take a package we offered. They'd look for some high upside picks, kinda like what they have with the Nets pick.
My premium subscriber-only newsletter. Seriously, as it says in the original post: "Nor is it based on any rumor, because as far as I know, this possibility hasn't been mentioned at all. I would think the Cavs' FO knows better than anyone whether LeBron is leaning toward staying or leaving. If it's the latter, they have to decide whether to get something of value in return now or risk the possibility of him being signed outright by someone this summer, leaving them with nothing but memories and a trophy.
No they wont, because they cant. Lebron has a NTC. How many time do we have to say that on this board? GOD
