Sources: Rockets pushing for a RYNO trade before the deadline

People worry for a good reason. Lots of players entering FA after this season, including CP, Luc, Ariza, Capela.

Obviously, that gives us flexibility enough to lose a lot of players and still enter the sweepstakes for Bron. But Ryno would effectively hold us up from signing role players w/ his gigantic contract even if we find a way to nab Bron.

He literally holds the key to our next season, and he's the one piece or contract that could make us lose a great rotational player this season. We already look worse if we lose Luc or Ariza.

And as a starter, if we don't get back anything for Ryno in a trade, we're also screwed.

I'll agree that Morey's strength is in trades. If anyone can find a great deal to ship out Ryno or deal w/ his contract, I trust Morey. It doesn't mean that I like our chances.

1 ryan is a definition of volume 3pt shooter shooting 6 3PA per game on CAREER and on the season

he was shooting 6 3s per game when hardly anyone in the league believed in 3p


today leagues trends are toward increasing quantity of 3pt shots and the league leading 3pt shooters get 10 3PA per game but i would say 6 3PA per game still counts as a volume shooter

2 i wont say +- is worthless as many claim, but no doubt it can be such a misleading stat that one needs to be very careful and know how to interpret it in context and you can hardly find anyone reasonably knowledgeable who wont admit to that

There is a reason for our extreme isolation this year and so much PnR. It is he way to attack and beat gsw’s defense. It’s how Cleveland won with heroics from kyrie against steph in iso.

Ok sure they trot out the death lineup. And your right we likely have to counter with our small ball lineup (althoughhhhh, draymond can’t elevate to defend the high lob but I digress).

So we put Ryan at the 5. Sure, draymond can stick to pj instead, but that does yank Durant who is a fabulous rim defender himself out of the way.

The big factor for winning that battle is pj being able to knock down that corner 3 (he’s been shooting all year).

This hasn’t even began to factor in our ability to attack steph in the PnR (which we will do A LOT).

So Ryan is important to how we attack gsw defense. Pj tucker standing out where Ryan is, or even ariza and mbah, won’t garner the same respect and the defense will sag and force them to shoot.

Yes, he is bad defensively and they will attack that. Yes he is extremely hesitant right now and that SUCKS.... Yes he has been playing as a negative player lately.

But with our strategy, which is based on variance, Ryan at his peak is extremely valuable.

At this point, as fans, we should be hoping and wishing for Ryan to return to last years form. Not hoping and wishing he’s traded for less players.
