I mean do you think he wrote a single piece of that speech? I'm sure he had general themes and points he told his speech writer. Obviously previous Presidents use speech writers for their State of the Union but I never really gave them credit for an amazing state of the union. It's basically congratulating someone for reading.
So Xenophobia and fear is just the right tone huh? Trump is a disaster. The sooner the FBI and Justice Department can rid this cancer from our gov't the better.
Even you can't be that dense. Give me a break. Funny how quickly ISIS was decimated once the US stopped providing funds and weapons to "moderate rebels" and simply allowed Russia and the Syrian government to take care of business instead of stirring up civil war. But hey, Obama's plan to create a humanitarian disaster in Syria and flood the West with refugees was still largely successful. Europe is now decidedly less white and those demographic changes are likely there to stay. Obama's legacy...
Which part of the speech did the Democrats not like, the part about standing up for the national anthem or the part about deporting gang members?
I am sorry you like to live in a world of make believe. But Trump's only change was to loosen the rules of engagement which did lead to more civilian casualties. The main work against ISIS was in Iraq - and the fall of Mosul had begun before Trump became President. Russia and the Syrian gov't wasn't were ISIS back was broke. It was the coalition Obama built to win in Iraq, and Trump continued it. So you can make up whatever you want to make-up, but the rest of us can live in the world of truth.
Basically, Trump is continuing a trend Obama started. These numbers are always pretty high, CNN had it at 48% (Which was comparable to their Obama and Bush first speeches) and the guy made a good point as to why. Simply, the people that voted or enthused about the president are the people that are watching.
Was in the U.K. Accidentally woke up as speech came on, so watched it on BBC, which was refreshing, as not really a bias either way there. Personally, I thought Trump delivered a very good speech--about as good as he could. I didn't watch the response, but I never do...they bore me, regardless of which side they're coming from, for reasons like those indicated here. I get the 'same air time' thing, but the SOTU is required in our Constitution, and is meant for everyone. The response is generally very political, and I wish it would just go away. Various members of the other party will have plenty of time to respond to the SOTU speech over the next several days...the 'response' is unnecessary political melodrama.
It is not required by the Constitution... Not as a speech to Congress which only started during Wilson. Prior to that it was a written report.
That was the lowest score CNN had ever recorded. It was a terrible speech. Self congratulatory and packing substance. Calling for unity then bring divisive. Lies all over the place. This man is not a legit president. County will be better off when we kick Putin's robot out
I agree with the first part but your second sentence is quite an assumption. I didn't watch the speech cause Harden was cooking but I struggle to watch those anyways with all of the standing and clapping.
