Yeah, didn't see this coming. If he wants to compete for a title, he's better off going back to Indiana and playing with 'Dipo and Myles Turner.
I've been wrong before, but I'd be very shocked if he decided to sign long term knowing that he'll be stuck on a team in the sticks that has no chance of contention at any point in the future. I think he'd rather be stuck on a non contender in a city like LA
I don't think he (nor do I think we) should think OKC has "no chance of contention at any point in the future." They can absolutely be a WCF contender with a team built around Westbrook and George.
Staying mean cementing himself in OKC - I just don't see him doing that he 'suffered' in Indiana . .. OKC cannot be much better It does not seem to be about basketball but about environment Rocket River
I see Westbrick being an impediment to anything coming of that, he actively makes players around him worse FAR too often. On top of that, I just don't see them overcoming the Rockets or Warriors no matter what they do.
Meh, players say things all the time, LMA also said he was going to stay in Portland and after 10 months he left with no esitation...with that said, i wouldn't be shocked if George stays in OKC, in the end we just don't know how/what he thinks.
I don't think it is the team I think it is the atmosphere I think he didn't like indiana cause he is an L A Guy I think the same with OKC I cannot see him committing for 4~5 more years there I don't know him that well but he just seems miserable and morose most of the time in indiana . . .. .He looks like most of us going to work in the morning We don't like it but. . . we paid to be there Melo won't opt out .. . too much money to opt out So . . . I think Paul would be cool doing one more year but I don't think that is an option either because well . . . not to be rude or mean but injuries happen I think his next contact he will secure 2 things 1. HIS MONEY and 2. HIS LOCATION PREFERENCE Rocket River
yea. .. . pretty much I think george is more about WINNING IN THE RIGHT LOCATION than Just Winning Lakers are a lot more space to work with than OKC OKC - 134 Mill LA - 102 Mill Rocket River
I just saw that George has a 20 mill OPTION So if he OPTS IN . . .he gets 20 mil and be a free agent the next year If he Opts Out . . .. then I think he goes to LA How much of a Raise could he get in LA? Rocket River
After his horrific injury, I think PG will opt out and sign long-term somewhere else. I still doubt he ops out and chooses OKC. IMO, it would be a foolish risk for him to opt in and decide in 2019.
In my opinion, Paul George is the best player on that team. I know that's not a popular opinion because Russ is all the rage, but I think Westbrook is an athletic freak that is an inefficient volume/numbers guy getting the headlines with his highlights and I-don't-care-about-you reputation. Guy is a career 31% three-point shooter. Great player, but if I was taking one, I'd pick George. Paul George would be perfect on the Rockets in place of Ryan Anderson. I mean... perfect. Going to be interesting to see if he leaves this summer. It's going to make it that much more painful for OKC given the quote @JR posted.
