Daryl Morey: “Hey how is the fam? Let’s put that nasty locker room stuff behind us. Trevor isn’t really going to lock all the exits and set your lock room on fire with Blake and Austin in it.”

Lawrence Frank: “What do you want Daryl? This isn’t about Crispy Creme not catering our home games any more is it?”

Daryl Morey: “No.. no.... So uhh, everyone knows DeAndre wants to come play for the Rockets.”

    Lawrence Frank: “So?”

Daryl Morey: “Ryan Anderson and a 2028 third rounder.”

Lawrence Frank: “There are no third rounders. Fu*k off Daryl. At least Cleveland offered us Tristan and expiring contracts.”

Daryl Morey: “Two third rounders and a Crispy Creme birthday party for Blake?”

    Lawrence Frank: CLICK

I stand by this. The welcome homes of Brooks, GGreen, 0IsaiahCannan0 and even Trev' made absolute sense. Dwight never really embraced Houston as "home," so he wouldn't be welcomed back with an embrace. As I have learned more and more, there aren't a whole lot of players who truly enjoyed playing along side D12 err D10. The way he destroyed his former Magic teammates that led him to the NBA finals was disgusting.

We all know (too well) the stories of his time here. Jason Terry always pops into my mind as a guy who really, really tried to bring Dwight and James together, especially towards then end. Eventually, it became Jet just trying to motivate D12 to be more involved. We all saw how that went...Dwight really seemed to just shut it down (Oh, hi, Tmac phrase) during the last part of his final season and during our beatdown against GS.

Then, Dwight negotiated (err....finagled?) his way into a very healthy contract. In his defense, Dwight's rebounding has been pretty good over the last couple of years. But, I don't know if his contract matches his value. His strength cannot be matched, nor can some of that rim protection, but it's not consistent, so I wouldn't give him those max dollars.

Chandler Parsons would tell me that 23 millie a season is a bargain for players like Dwight and himself though. And, I guess some on this board would argue that DMo, being the amazing "Super Role Player X-Factor" was worth 15 millie a year. So, what do I know about value?!

Anyway, Dwight's time in ATL was shorter than he could have possibly imagined for a homecoming. Allegedly, he wasn't a "cancer" or "Dwightmare" in the locker room, but instead, he had little to no "serious intent" (used phrase) for the game. Losses weren't a big deal. One of ATL's leaders aired it out that the team wasn't going to improve if any starters weren't playing for a championship....or just against Houston/James. This caused a sting. Subtle sting but a sting nonetheless... it bothered Mr. HighSchool.

So now, Dwight is in the CHA, playing decently. Is it because he's tired of being moved? Has it damaged his continent-sized ego? Is he afraid of a trade?

Perhaps, but he doesn't need to worry about returning to Houston. Put the doublecup down if you thought Dwight was getting a homecoming.

I think Morey would welcome back Corey Brewer with a city parade, before pursuing Dwight...and that contract, that baggage and that stamp for potential free agent signings that says, "Stay the F away from Houston."

Admittedly, I defended Dwight against Kevin McHale's coaching methods and inability to get Dwight the ball in sports other than posting up. However, as we all watched, once Dwight was unable to make those baby hooks anymore, and when the missile-launch freethrows became a regular occasion, the team/the fans grew tired of his game/antics/disinterest/etc. Basically, you cannot defend Dwight's character to anyone. There's nothing to defend. It's one of the least kept NBA secrets that Dwight is an overpaid jokester (without the funny-value) who eats up the salary cap, your team's morale and, eventually, all chemistry.

How the hell do you make Paul Milsap angry? You don't---because Paul is known to get along with EVERYONE. (And, he played in Utah..can you imagine?!!)

    Yeah...no....forget any fantasy about Dwight.

    *sorry

Actually. Waiting to sign DJ as a free agent with our full tax payer MLE would make sense.

$8.5 million dollars. He said he would take a discount. There you are.

He said he would take a discount, but he’s not accepting the MLE. No way that happens.

There's no way Morey will sign DJ in FA unless he takes a paycut of 10mil or more. Capela just has too many upsides and is a RFA so we can go over the cap to match. The only problem is if Tilman refuses to pay that much if Cuban tries to screw us over.

DJ has a huge player option for next season so I really doubt he's going to sacrifice over 10mil/year just to play with us, especially if Cavs trade their Nets pick for him since they'll max him when Lebron walks.

The funny thing about Cavs wanting to trade is that Dan Gilbert probably knows Lebron is leaving so he'd be against parting with the Nets pick and Lebron not telling the Cavs what he's doing this summer, in the process, screws himself over for a title chance this year. Lebron should just be honest and tell Dan he's leaving and waive his NTC to be traded here. No need to waste everyone's time.

Sure he will. If the words are true, then year.

No way rockets can offer anything else. No cap space.

    it doesn’t sound realistic

DJ could easily make over twice what the MLE will be paying

no way he locks himself into the MLE unless he just loves Houston that much...this is his last chance to get a decent contract

Capella is getting better but how long are we going to wait for him. Love the kid but we are in the hunt to win now. We have one of the best pg's in the league with the best sg. If we don't have a win now mentality, we might as well ship harden off and plan for the future. If the playoffs were to start next week. Who would you honestly rather have as your starting center to give you the best chance to win? Clint or Deandre? I think Deandre would excel in our system. He's a giant and he'd be exactly what we want clint to do in 5 years... the only problem is we do not have 5 years.

    BINGO
By what he has said. And if he really wants to win. His family will have to eat like beggars with the full taxpayer MLE. Word to Lat spree.

He'll just sign for 1 year. Like cyberx says. He loves his hometown. Hell I'd do anything to move home. Clint will get paid next season. He will definitely get paid by someone. We are not going to pay everything and the kitchen sink to resign Clint especially for the Center position in todays NBA. Clint is not Embiid. The kid will want to get paid. Deandre has made his money. He can live happy with the money he has made in a nice state income tax free zone like houston. If the guy wants to come home for cheap. Then we have to take a chance to win. I like our chances against the Spurs with a behemoth like Deandre pushing Gasol and Lemarcus around over Clint.

The thing is theres not nearly the gap you think there is between Jordan and Capela currently, it's arguable that Clint is better currently. Also, Harden is only 28, as vital as CP3 is to our championship aspirations, we aren't out of the title chase until Harden falls off, and Harden likely has another 4 years in him. You can't be as short minded as saying, who is better this season (and again, it's debatable... the 5 year gap comment is almost commical), when we need our big to function at his peak for another 4 years.

it’s not about his family having to “eat like beggars”...it’s about expecting a C who’s about to turn 30 and relies on athleticism that is currently making 22.6 mil and has an opt in for 24.1 mil to all of the sudden sign for 8.5 mil/yr moving forward

    that’s just wishful thinking

if a discount in DJ’s mind is 15 mil/yr or something like that, I better not see people on here calling him selfish or saying that he doesn’t want to win because that’s a lot more realistic than expecting him to sacrifice so much that he’ll take the MLE

He’ll sign for 1 year and then do what? We won’t get his Bird Rights off a 1 year deal, and we won’t have cap space to offer him anything in the summer of 2019. DJ isn’t doing a 1 year deal. Why would that make sense for him?
