The onside kick was the right decision. Doubles your chances of getting the ball back otherwise you still have to force a 3-and-out no matter what. The problem was the execution.
I think it's time. Steelers have gone as far as they can with this group (and coach). Franchise needs a refresh. It's hard to believe the only thing between Mike Tomlin and Chuck Noll was Bill Cowher.
If handled properly this easily could have been a Steelers win, but the coaching was just THAT bad. This is what Texans fans get to look forward to for at least the next 5 years.
It doesn't double anything because the odds of recovery are so slim. They had 2 TOs plus the 2-minute warning. Could have had the ball back on their 30-35 yard-line with ~90 seconds left. The gamble was not a good decision.
So what you're telling me these teams known for their defense gave up 87 points between the two of them I like our chances next year
Well executing good onside kicks are hard which is why it was not the right decision. I swear the kicking team touches the ball before 10 yards like half the time.
The decision was fine, if handled properly the onside kick would have given the ball to the Jags outside of FG range worst case scenario. Since they touched it before the ball went 10 yards, they gave them the ball inside FG range. If it was the 15 yards further back or so that it should have been, the Jags would have had to punt the ball. Of all the BOB quality decisions that were made today by the Steelers, the onside kick wasn't one of them.
Couldn't really care less who wins this, but the Saints have always been my NFC team of choice, even when they sucked way back in the day.
Jags defense got exposed today. NE will not make any mistakes like the Steelers did. It'll be a close game but NE is going back to the superbowl
Keyword being really of course. I don't care for our neighbors to the north or the east. And I really don't appreciate their fan base showing up in Houston
