lol. You clearly never worked in corporate America. Companies don't turn around a $200 million bonus to its employees right after a piece of legislation passes. It takes a lot of time to plan these things.

    Jan 2, 2018
Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced today the Company's plans to celebrate the recent tax reform legislation.

The Southwest Board of Directors authorized a bonus to all Southwest Airlines Employees to celebrate the recent passage of the tax reform legislation. All Fulltime and Parttime Southwest Employees employed with Southwest on Dec. 31, 2017, will receive a $1,000 cash bonus on Jan. 8, 2018.

"We applaud Congress and the President for taking this action to pass legislation, which will result in meaningful corporate income tax reform for the transportation sector in general, and for Southwest Airlines, in particular," said Southwest's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly. "We are excited about the savings and additional capital, which we intend to put to work in several forms—to reward our hard-working Employees, to reinvest in our business, to reward our Shareholders, and to keep our costs and fares low for our Customers."

Kelly continued, "I am also proud to report that we have donated an incremental $5 million to charitable causes as a result of tax reform. Throughout 2018, we will work with our charitable partnerships to put this money to work in the communities we serve and where our Employees work and live."

Southwest also is increasing its fleet investment with its longtime business partner, Boeing, to support future growth opportunities and fleet modernization at favorable economics. The Company exercised 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 options for 15 firm orders in 2019 and 25 firm orders in 2020, and deferred 23 Boeing 737 MAX 7 firm orders from 2019 through 2021 to 12 firm orders in 2023 and 11 firm orders in 2024. The Company's 2018 available seat mile growth plans remain unchanged.

Kelly continued, "Southwest Airlines has long been an example in corporate America of a Company that puts People first by taking care of our Employees, our Customers, our Shareholders, and our Communities. Today's news is a wonderful example of that leadership and commitment."

You do know that all of that came from you right? It sounds like you have some issues to work out....I would encourage to to see someone about that.

So you are judging people based on the perceived color of their skin? Yeah...it really does sound like you have some issues to work out but it makes sense why you'd go on a racist rant and try to blame it on others. Best of luck to you working through those issues.

This isn't about Trump, it's about your personal issues that are manifesting themselves on this board in the form of racist rants....that you conveniently blame on others.

Perhaps the origin of the mental instability you are currently experiencing was Trump winning the presidency, but that still doesn't make this about Trump....it's about you and you need to do better.

Trump thinks because my son's skin is brown he comes from a Shithole country. You know this dude is a imbecile racist but you continue to support him. The rant makes my point clear about people like you and Trump. Don't deny it when another Congressman recalled Trump saying the same thing while your GOP compatriots remain silent because they know the jackass he is.

Oh, so now you have delusions of being a mind reader too? Perhaps there's more to your condition than I previously thought. I was thinking it was a simple persecution complex along with Trump Derangement Syndrome, but it might go deeper than that. Seriously though, you should see someone about it because your condition, while tragic, is no excuse for you going on racist rants here.

Please take off your partisan hat. That list is easily verifiable by clicking on the link within the list that will take you to the companies press release. By claiming the list is somehow fraudulent because it was put together by a right wing news outlet is like claiming 2+2=4 is a lie because the person that taught it to you was a republican.

Edit: sorry I didn’t realize you were responding to someone I had on my ignore list.

@Bobbythegreat i just realized that you were responding to someone I’ve had on the ignore list for quite awhile. Your posts were starting to look a bit crazy until I clicked on “show ignored content”. Sorry but that dude is crazy and on my ignore list for a reason.

I drink a glass of whiskey every night.

Sometimes I tell myself it's to celebrate the Rockets win.

It's too bad that the Rockets aren't uniquely susceptible to bribery or else I'd issue a press release about it.

Good. Maybe this time is different from the other 50 times where trickle down economic was awesome for the bottom.

On a serious note, look at the forest and at least a few years duration.

Haha do you realize that a $1,000 bonus amounts to less than 50 cents per hour? And the companies aren't raising wages they are handing out a tiny fraction on the windfall they are receiving as a publicity stunt. It's funny how all these companies that have been in contact with Trump are all announcing $1,000 trickle down bonuses at the same time.

This was planned and coordinated as a PR stunt to sell the tax reform bill to people.

So what you are saying is you don't know?

I'm going to let you in on a secret, non-union businesses also receive bonuses. Companies are currently more profitable than ever. Employee shortages are occurring everywhere. I guess when Walmart increased their pay to $10 2 years ago, that was because of this tax law? Last year when Target agreed to raise to $15, was that the tax law? When Southwest put $586M into their profit sharing plan last year, was that because of the tax law?

I work with a bunch of professional tax savants. They have been working on this thing night and day for a month to prepare analysis of its impact, they are still working on it.

But apparently jim Bob in the SW airlines accounting and payroll department did the math between Christmas and New Year's and figured it all out.

Or maybe just maybe companies like Airlines and AT&T that have huge hundred billion dollar regulatory matters pending before an easily manipulated government have another incentive here, which coupled nicely in a tight labor market with years off lagging wage growth. .

Or maybe they don't need to wait for your out-of-touch eggheads to over-analyze this, but rather they can see the economy doing well, see that the tax relief will help them, and they can make a decision to invest in their people?

....but tell your "tax savants" to keep working. Maybe one day they'll have enough information to be able to advise somebody to make a decision!
