Why is everyone so big on Gerald Green? He has always been the same player his entire career--Energy player that can put up quick points, low 3 PT %, low assist, low rebounds, and lack of defensive awareness. He missed a lot of assignments on D in all the games I have watched. He was part of the reason Houston lost its last game with Golden State by jacking up pull up 3's, which Daryl Morey analytics tells us are low percentage shots. He is shooting 8-10 3's a game. That is way too much for a bench player. But in his defense he is the only bench guy that can score right now.
Many people don't know a lot outside of the Rockets. For instance, how many people here knew Gerald Green is actually missing a finger on his dominant right hand side? Dude is ballin' like he is with 9 fingers. Green's done more for the disability folk than Royce White thats for sure. Doesn't b**** and complain about it, just adapts and balls. The Rockets NEED an energy player that can score off the bench. Bench players will have flaws, so the lower D skill is acceptable. He fills a void the Rockets need. You got Moute when we need D and normal role player offense off that bench, and you have Green when you need energy and instant offense from that bench.
Why is everyone so big on the main reason we've been able to remain competitive in the last 5-6 games? If you can't see that GG has been a blessing to this team you don't know basketball.
there are some people who believe that the only way to appear smart is to point out flaws..... it' funny tho, most of us that have followed the league know his flaws but understand what he is and that what he is, is what we need right now.... HES A BENCH GUY... STOP EXPECTING A COMPLETE PLAYER FROM A BENCH GUY.... THEY'RE BENCH GUYS FOR A REASON.... IF HE WAS A COMPLETE PLAYER HED BE A HIGH END STARTER.... JEEZ
lol h lol 8-10 3's a game for a bench player. please watch that golden state game. If those items I pointed out aren't concerns for you then you don't know basketball. The move the rockets made was more out of desperation because of our lack of bench output is my point. I get it you are one of those disrespectful know it alls on this site. But when you deal with me you will not be this irreverent prick.
I don't try to be anything. lol seems like you know basketball by disparaging other posters like myself. lol stop being emotional and read what I posted. The point of the post was saying that his jacking up threes is a concern. Like I said the move the rockets made was out of desperation since the bench doesn't score. It was a desperate move by Morey simply put. Gerald Green is Gerald Green. I am just surprised by the outpour of excitement he has generated considering he's been the same journeyman player his whole career. lol so before you disparage me stop reading these posts and get all emotional and disrespect me homie.
I had to stop reading there so I really don't know what your point was, or if you had one. The first statement made means a lot, and a statement this stupid really doesn't justify me reading further. Our bench player last season, who happened to win 6th man of the year, shot 3's like that. We had a good team, who knows how far we could have gone if our star player didn't quit during the playoffs.
Stop with the condescending posts already lmao. I already got 3 hate replies to my posts. I guess I have done my job pissing you people off lmao. Point is dude that he's the same player all his career so I don't get all the hype. Like I told the other 2 haters on my post that he doesn't take good shots and his D is pretty bad in terms of missing assignments. Watch the film. Desperate Morey move that's all it is. And I already said he's a good scorer so you are simply agreeing with what I said. lmao you people
Please by all means continue to post. You're not pissing me off, sorry if you're receiving hate. I'm rather enjoying the comedic value you are offering.
Funny out of those 8-10 3's he takes a game I haven't seen him force many. Maybe that's because we have an offensive system geared toward taking a lot of 3's??? I'm just wondering why you're nit picking a guy who came off his couch to play for his hometown team and who's provided a spark that we needed in Harden's absence. It just doesn't make sense.
I wasn't talking about 'lol h'. I said a statement, I assumed that was a typo. 'lol h' isn't a statement. I was referring to this gem 'lol 8-10 3's a game for a bench player.'
Duh. I AM reading the majority of your posts. Did you somehow miss me literally just saying that I'm enjoying the comedic value you are bringing to this thread? The only one I haven't read is the one I told you I didn't read (past the first statement). You want us to take your basketball evaluations seriously when you can't even evaluate normal aspects of communication correctly? Come on dude. By all means continue though.
L Where did you read or who told you pull up threes are a high percentage shot? You are smarter, more knowledgeable, better, wiser than me. You are a quality human being. You never disparaged my posts to make you feel better. lmao oh man.
Different players. Gordon shoots a lot of 3's but his percentage is better. He is a shooter that's what shooters do. He also plays more minutes--starter type minutes off the bench so his role is different than Green's. He takes better shots than pull up threes and not as erratic as Green. I never said I didn't like Green. I already mentioned he is a high energy guy that can put up points. I just don't get all the hype surrounding him.
Not sure what your point is exactly. He’s been a big spark for us on the court and a huge upgrade to the end of the bench talent. And you don’t know why people are excited about his addition? Pretty damn strange that you don’t get it.
If you have to ask why then you CLEARLY don't watch any Rocket games. Not sure how you can question how good Green's been for us? He's played great on BOTH ends of the floor
Actually he's playing way better than he has in his career prior to this stint with the Rockets. His shooting percentages are up(especially from downtown) and he's nearly doubled his scoring average. Will that regress over time especially once Harden and Luc return? Of course. But to act like he hasn't made a major contribution to the team since his arrival is disingenuous. They likely lose to the Bulls last night without him and they would've lost to the Warriors by 25.
