January must be the worst month of the year for baseball. In October you might be lucky enough to still be playing. In November you get to reflect on the past season. In December you have the winter meetings. In February you get the beginnings of preseason. I am totally bored

Maybe. But it might be the case that they feel we can win without a big signing. or Doing so may jeopardize future chances to win. So yes, IMO, it would be ballsy.
They have the balls to lose 100 games in a season or 3 if they think it will lead to a World Series. Front office has earned the benefit of the doubt.
