So Bannon's new book has some pretty serious attacks on the Trump family, including calling Kushner a crook with dirty finances and saying Don Jr. committed treason with his meeting in Trump Tower with the Russians.

Today Trump has declared war on Bannon:

Yeah I think the Bannon vs Trump news today certainly warrants a separate thread, and something to watch. We all knew with Trump's unhinged tweets yesterday "something" was coming down soon. Not sure if this new feud was the spark that lit Trump up yesterday.

Bannon's motivation is the key here-

First thing that pops in my head is that Bannon finally figured out that Mueller was onto something, and is creating a PR campaign for himself and his platform for years down the road to separate himself. That seems like the most obvious tactic here. Trump was still very much in line with Bannon's White Nationalist agenda, and would have likely campaigned positively for his Bannon candidates in 2018 so I can't think of any reason why he would want to separate himself from Trump right now at this second except if there was good indication that Trump & co. were going to go down really really soon with the Mueller probe.

There has been some mumbling that Bannon himself may want to run for president.

I'm more shocked I actually agree with Bannon with something. Or rather Bannon, the white nationalist, actually agrees with any of my sentiments.

Particularly this part: “Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad ****, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

Whats ironic about Bannon coming out calling others "treasonous" for their actions with Russia, is that nobody else in Trump's orbit is as closely aligned to Russian political interests that Steve Bannon's agenda. He's a self described "Leninist" for crying out loud where his ideal for government is pre WW2 Soviet Union. He might not have had the financial interest in a union with Russia, but he had more interest than anyone in a political alignment.

Good luck Steve. He couldn't even get Roy Moore elected via his white nationalist platform. I think he knows he would never win, but he certainly would cause a few nasty rallies and protests.

Whats interesting about this though is he is essentially backed by the Mercers only. However they are also one of the top GOP donors as well. Bannon forcing the Mercers to choose sides will significantly hurt one of the two. If he gets the Mercers to ditch support to the GOP, that will have HUGE implications in GOP funding.

Enjoying seeing two treasonous white nationalists going at it over media. Its a beautiful thing. Funny to see the lack of loyalty that trump exhibits towards others turning back towards him. And now one with a newsletter that has been popular among those that also follow trump.

Only half way. Bannon was a big part of Trump's success well before ever being part of his team. Breitbart readers make up a huge part of Trump's base.

Seems Bannon doesn’t have a high opinion of Trump and company. Probably feels Trump isn’t smart enough to actually Change America in Bannon’s eyes.

From what snopes says, he meant his was a Leninist in the sense that he wanted to destroy government (the ultimate form of communism in the Marxist framework), not that he wanted the what the USSR had during the purges. But the veracity of the quote is not confirmed either.

The source material for Bannon's quote, Michael Wolff's upcoming "Fire and Fury" book, is the most insane piece of political reporting I've read in years.

Donald Trump Didn't Want to Be President
